Why Founders? 🤔 I was reflecting on why I love working with founders—why our conversations flow so naturally and our writing projects just click. Then it hit me: I'm a founder too, just not a successful one... yet. 🤯 While building 𝗜𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 into a solid services business, I'm always tinkering with product ideas (watch this space - 1-3 launches coming in early '25). They'll probably fail, but that's OK. I used to get stuck on ideas that weren't working. Or were working, but not making money. Now? I build, test, and pivot quickly because: - Success isn't linear - Every "failed" idea is a lesson - Failing fast beats stubborn persistence I've discovered the best founders often have dozens of failures. Or more. I've had a few, but I'm not quite there... yet. Sure, some days I think about getting a "real" job – especially when doing things I'm not good at, like sales and admin. But then I remember at Airbnb and Lonely Planet, I was always happiest leading my own projects. And creating new things from scratch. When I was working like a founder. The founder journey is hard, but I'm embracing it. Because that's what founders do. 😌

As an early-stage founder, everyone idolizes who you fundraised from or how sexy your UI looks. But those are BS vanity metrics. Here are 3 principles I live by that should be muscle memory for every founder 👇 1/ 🧘♂️ INTUITION This means knowing when to focus on doing 1 thing well versus 100 things below average. It means knowing the difference between *hitting* a roadblock and *being* the roadblock for your team. They don't teach you intuition in school – it's something you're born with, and you have to groom it over time if you want to build a business or lead teams. Trust your gut. With. Everything. 2/ 🏗️ CONSISTENCY + CONVICTION Just show up and believe in what you do. Consistency is going "heads-down" on feature changes or answering CX tickets late at night when other people are out networking or sleeping. Consistency is showing your team they can rely on you in the trenches every day, not just when it suits you. All of this comes down to how much you believe in what you do – because everyone can tell whether you give a sh*t or not. And it's contagious. 3/ ✍️ FAIL FAST If you're not building and getting quick feedback, then WYD? No one cares how many features you have; they care about whether your features solve their problems. Does it make their life easier? Or does it just look cool? Your ONE job with customers is to build stuff that makes life better. And if it doesn't, learn fast so you can course-correct. If you're a founder, how much time are you spending talking to other founders? I've been in a few founder circles and I'm realizing that everyone has similar problems in different clothes. I've found that the best founders to talk to are the ones that are 1 stage ahead of you. And founders at that stage may still have a few problems related to your stage, so conversations are valuable for both of you. If you’re just starting out, seek out founders who have launched a product. If you’ve launched your product, talk to founders who have found product-market fit. If you have product-market fit, talk to those that have built a repeatable distribution process. Learning from founders who have been in your shoes and successfully navigated the challenges you face can provide invaluable insights and guidance. It's hard and often pretty lonely to build something from nothing. Let's figure it out together.

There's a popular reason to build your product in a stealth mode. And it will surprise you. What is it? Fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of rejection. Fear of losing face. ... " I am a private person" " I have nothing to say" " I will be ready by Q4" ... This worked. For no founder. Ever. ↪ Are you bootstrapped? ↪ Are you going for a seed round?
