The average salary employees would accept for a new roles jumped by over 11% from November 2023 to March 2024. Factors such as a tight labor market, pricing for necessities such as groceries, rent/mortgage, and gas all factor into this, with a American Staffing Association saying 40% of adults responded that they are facing more financial stress than they were 12 months ago. Of course pay has always been a major factor when looking for new roles, along with location/work environments, opportunities for growth, benefits among others. In response, writes Kristine Kuhn, professor at Washington State University, "some employers have chosen to post very wide pay ranges for open positions, for several reasons: They do not wish to reveal #compensation information to competitors; they wish to retain flexibility to hire at different experience levels; or they hope the high top-of-range value will attract talent." New @BenefitsPro research shows that 1️⃣ in 5️⃣ workers could not sustain their current lifestyle for a full week if they lost their job. That means they're more willing to take a pay cut in order to stay with their current employer. But let's not get too excited about the prospect of paying employees less. 1w4 10's is a common schedule in the trades. I love it when my husband has that schedule. Those two hours are negligible, you hardly notice them but you are also able to actually rest and live your life on the weekend.
