As Ramadan approaches, I wanted to take a moment to share some insights about this holy month. Whether you have Muslim colleagues, clients, or friends, understanding Ramadan can foster stronger connections. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. While this includes abstaining from food and drink, it's much more than just physical restraint. It's a time for deep reflection, focusing on our relationship with God and striving to be better people. Throughout the month, Muslims dedicate themselves to self-development. We actively cultivate kindness, patience, and empathy. You might notice some Muslim colleagues are absent from regular lunch, coffee runs, or smoke breaks. Don't worry, it's not because they are avoiding you. They simply can't eat, drink or smoke during the day. Please feel free to carry on as usual - there's no need to feel awkward. I encourage you to reach out to your colleagues and clients to initiate a conversation about Ramadan. Our connections strengthen when we engage in discussions about matters important to us, fostering stronger bonds across religions and cultures. With stronger bonds, we build bridges instead of walls, an aspect the world could definitely benefit from at the moment. Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful Ramadan.
