We’re excited to share that the Cadmos Peace European Engagement Fund Report 2023 is now available (& in a new interactive format)! 🕊️ The report highlights the work of our partner de Pury Pictet Turrettini (PPT), which engages its portfolio companies through its Buy&Care® approach on issues related to sustainability and responsible business conduct. Since 2022, as part of our partnership with PPT, TrustWorks has supported PPT on over 50 engagements with companies on responsible business in fragile and conflict-affected settings (FCS), with a focus on minimising negative impacts on conflict and maximising positive impacts on peace and stability through the lens of heightened human rights due diligence and conflict-sensitivity. The report highlights important results from last year’s engagement cycle. To enhance our engagements with companies and as part of our partnership with PPT, in 2024 we have developed our own benchmarking methodology to assess company exposure to conflict and conflict-related risks and their readiness for operating in FCS. 🌍 We will be sharing more information about the benchmarking methodology later this year, so watch this space! In the current global funding landscape, many multilateral and bilateral donors are emphasizing the concept of localization by shifting their strategic focus to providing funds or grants directly to local civil society organizations (CSOs). This approach is likely to enhance the resilience and sustainability of CSOs over the long term. However, this shift also introduces risks for both donors and CSOs, particularly those engaged in civic space and democratic governance, including areas related to politics, governance, legal frameworks, financial management, and compliance. To address these challenges, it is essential to implement rigorous risk assessments, proper due diligence and mitigation strategies, alongside developing strong partnership standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ongoing support for institutional capacity building must also be prioritized.

The innovative performance-based approach of the Recover and Resilience Facility is bringing real results on the ground.

Key Findings from The 2024 State of Grantseeking A couple interesting findings: ⭐ Private foundations were the largest source of total grant funding for most mission focuses. ⭐ Lack of time and/or staff (21%) continued to be the greatest challenge to grantseeking among respondents. ⭐ Some of the top issues frequently cited as the greatest challenges to successful grantseeking: difficulty in finding grant opportunities that matched with specific missions, locations, or programs (15%) and increased funder requirements (14%) **Are you a mission-focused organization struggling with successful grantseeking?
