We've recently been interviewing some of the 3,278 readers who've contacted us to share what having free access to one of University of Michigan Press's books has meant to them. I know that almost 2,741,088 accesses from over 229 countries and territories is a big number, and we love sharing our Book Analytics Service public dashboard (https://lnkd.in/gFhGnYA2). It's also exciting to see the monthly growth, jumping to over 100,000 accesses in March. But it's that human connection that makes all the difference. Having to spend tens to hundreds of dollars to access articles and scholarly books would make writing research papers next to impossible for me. Seeing that a source I need is open-access or otherwise available for free takes a great burden off my shoulders." "Please make more materials open-access. It would help world scholarship a lot. I am from the Philippines and much of our research would be better informed if we had access to more materials." "Have open-access books is pivotal for our student population, many of whom come from low-resource communities and often find textbooks cost-prohibitive to completing courses and academic credits successfully. A collection box is located near the Checkout Desk, or you can drop receipts into our Book Drop. Receipts must be received by February 23, 2025. Here's how it works: The bottom of your Acme receipt lists a Community Cash Back amount. For every receipt you submit, we receive 5% of that total as a donation.

🚫 STOP overcomplicating your message! You believe in your mission and you are passionate about it, but often when we try and communicate it to others, we overcomplicate it. We want to share every nuance! But, this can get confusing, leaving your donor with more questions than answers. The simpler, the better. ✅ Then, people will understand: 👉 Why your mission is important. 👉 How they can be a part of the mission. 👉 How they can donate. Keep your message clear and focused.
