This week's #OptOutside has the VP (Stacey McNamara) and me taking a break from a planning session and walking down to the river. We are so grateful to be able to quickly and easily find a peaceful place to refocus and recharge. Remember, get outside today - you never know what beauty awaits you. #8PL #Friday

Today, I encountered a beautiful moment that unfolded in the most unexpected of places—a medical shop in India. As I was browsing, I noticed a small bird (Pigeon) calmly strolling across the shop counter, seemingly unfazed by its surroundings. I asked the shop owner why this little bird chose to spend its time there instead of soaring freely in the sky. The shop owner shared a heartwarming story. One day, while driving to work, he accidentally grazed the bird with his two wheeler. Concerned, he picked it up and offered the injured bird some food. After a bit of care and love, the bird healed and flew away. To the owner’s surprise, the bird began to return daily, eagerly waiting for the shop to open. This encounter made me reflect on how a little compassion can go a long way in building trust. The bird now returns each day, a testament to the connection formed through kindness. This touching encounter reminded me of a valuable lesson: a little compassion and empathy can significantly impact trust-building especially as leaders. How many of us take the time to extend kindness in our busy lives? In our professional journeys, building trust, like the relationship between the shopkeeper and the bird, requires consistent effort and care. Let’s remember that small acts of kindness can create bonds that last, whether they’re between humans or even with our feathered friends. This story of shopkeeper and the bird made me think, How can we integrate more compassion into our daily interactions and nurture trusting relationships in work environment ? #lesson #bird #leadershiplesson #buildingtrust #compassion #empathy

Time off / time out. Easy to forget how important it is. Life lessons with my four old when picking samphire to add to tonight's dinner. 1. The best growth is found near the riskier edges. 2. An abundance mindset yields the best returns. 3. Where aren't the majority looking? A shift in perspective is what's often needed. 4. Stop posting about f'ing samphire, have a beer and start the BBQ. :) #theseaside #timeout #simplethings

To many more failures 🍻🥂 #simonesays Here are a few things I suck at (in no particular order): - keeping plants alive - maintaining female friendships - recognising that fatigue is not a lack of ambition - baking muffins: even the premix gets me - knowing when to rather shut up - recognising self sabotage - consistently losing weight - keeping my bedroom cupboards neat But hey, I’m still alive and kicking 🦵 and I am excited for the upcoming year at a new age :) we fail, we learn, we grow. Nobody is perfect and that’s a good thing. #simonesays #selfdevelopment #prebirthdaythoughts

We all have to come to terms with the fact that we will not be here forever. Make your moments count, do not take the things and the relationships we have for granted, and live each day as if it’s your last with everything that you have to give. No regrets, only memories. Today and everyday, is a good day, to make it a great day. Happy Monday. Let’s go!!! #life #grateful #blessings #effort #results #relationships #success #friends #family #career #transportation #trucking #logistics #supplychainmanagement #supplychain #wellingtongroupofcompanies

Today is Day 3 of our series of excellent words that we feel should be released from the confines of the past as they are perfect for the modern world. Today we are talking about: 'Whiffle’ (16th century): to hover indecisively over a decision, such as whether to turn the heating on in July. We all whiffle at times. Some of us more than others. Sometimes when people are whifflers it is because they don’t have all the facts to hand, or because they can’t quite work out the impact of doing the thing that they are whiffling about. Having the right information to hand will help those whifflers land on a decision. By thinking about the strengths and weaknesses of something, listing all the things that could happen if or when, you can significantly reduce the level of whiffling. Of course it depends very much on what the decision is about. If you are debating where to have your next team away day, you’ll need to take a lot into consideration before your whiffling comes to an end. On the other hand, if you spot a whiffler whiffling at the festive buffet, unsure whether to have a ham sandwich or a cheese one, you might just need to step up with a suggestion or some direct guidance for the whiffler (the answer is cheese of course!). Are you a whiffler?
