With the world no.1 team in town it was easy to be called into action this week and report on the South African team announcement. Thanks for having me on Vata Ngobeni Morena Mothupi Nandi Tshabalala it was fun previewing the big game on Saturday for eNCA, which SA are massive favourites for. Even though there's the Wales game next weekend, if they win their match against England today, SA will be closer to ending the year as the top ranked team Looking forward to the battle royal at Twickenham (yes I still call the stadium by this name 😀 ) this afternoon. 📺 https://lnkd.in/ez4dAAyU

Irish Rugby.. Watching the Glasgow Warriors last night and this article it raised some questions and the need for some home truths- “Irish rugby has everything in place to be the most aligned rugby system in the world, yet there are clear signs that it’s been sorely lacking over the past four-year cycle and a lack of depth in key positions was obvious in Paris last October“ There are then questions around the IRFU’s crude commercialisation of the game alienating long standing supporters. Over hyping. Terrible athmosphere. It’s attitude to a range of issues from alcohol, concussion, gender and human rights. Does Irish rugby really challenge under performance on and off the field which should come with its new found commercialisation or is it still an old boys club albeit one the Irish tax payer subsidies? It’s true there’s excessive demand on tired players and poorer rugby but the golden period we have enjoyed in recent years may not last without the type of serious self reflection which preceded the professional era and which the IRFU is to be applauded for. Rugby is about more than money. Glasgow’s victory, a team with far less investment and hype than Leinster, really brought this out.
Bernard Jackman: Ireland’s lack of depth in key positions could spell the end of golden era

Incredible! 👏👏👏 Everyone should be educated and involved when it comes to managing situations like this while awaiting the Medics to arrive. Luke Nasau’s quick and knowledgeable response is an outstanding example for all. It is crucial to educate everyone involved in rugby—players, coaches, parents, referees, managers—on how to properly approach an injured player, and, more importantly, how not to. This is especially important as we do not always have doctors or physiotherapists nearby, and they are not usually the first to reach the injured player. World Rugby’s Level 1 course on #FirstAidInRugby is an excellent tool for educating the general public on basic protocols for identifying and managing an injured player. Take a look at how Luke Nasau responds to Sibabalwe Mahashe's injury; he should be an example for everyone involved in rugby, and for other sports!

A couple of days ago, this video went viral. In the video, a Fijian rugby player named Luke Nasau performs MILS (Manual In-Line Stabilization) to protect the neck of an unconscious South African player. Additionally, all doctors and physiotherapists involved in the game should complete World Rugby’s Level 2 course on #ImmediateCareInRugby to gain a deeper understanding of these protocols. Take a look at how Luke Nasau responds to Ezekiel Ngobeni's injury; he should be an example for everyone involved in rugby.

Off the back of this posting, I was contacted by another rugby club in the far south east about the issues they are having. There are some common themes here around rugby club finance, membership, facilities, insurance, the list goes on and on. I’m thinking about getting an informal talking shop together to bring struggling rugby clubs together to discuss: 1. Management and finance 2. Sponsorship and Funding 3. Membership and community 4. Getting out of the downward spiral Message me if this is something that strikes a chord, and you feel your club could benefit from hearing from others in a similar situation. It’s not bad, it’s just not going away until there is clear action. Simple changes can make a big difference. If I get enough interest, I’ll set up a virtual meeting. Maybe get some clubs to share their experiences of finding a way out to the benefit of the members and community.

This really makes me very sad. The RFU actually does lots of good things (it honestly does). But the optics of recent actions/news in light of HQ redundancies and this damning review of the plight of grassroots rugby really challenges any progress it makes. It really is desperate. https://lnkd.in/eJuxc6qa

I took my kids aged 6 and 11 on a tour of 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 over the festive period. It was their first visit to the ground and it’s safe to say that it was a day that will live long in the memory. I was particularly impressed by the tour guide and not only did he share stories of Everton’s history but backed them up with data and statistics. Some examples include: (𝟭) Everton were the first English club to play 4000 games in the top division. (𝟮) Everton were the first team to win a European Cup penalty shootout (v Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1970). (𝟯) Aside from Wembley, Goodison Park hosted the most games in the 1966 World Cup. (𝟰) Goodison Park is the only premier league ground to have hosted a World Cup semi final. (𝟱) Everton were the first British team to install under-soil heating in the 1950’s. (𝟲) Slightly morbid but 2 Everton legends passed away whilst watching a match in corporate hospitality at Goodison Park. (𝟳) Alongside Leicester, Everton's David Moyes team experienced the biggest rise in Premier League finishing position history (13) finishing in a lowly 17th place in the 03-04 season (narrowly avoiding relegation), before finishing 4th in 04-05 and qualifying for the Champions League. As the majority of the workforce in the Capital head back to the office tomorrow, my take away from this fantastic day out is that if you’re looking to impress a client, an interviewer or anyone in any context then do your research and have data to back up your viewpoint. Facts and figures help to provide real credibility and a deeper understanding of the bigger picture. #evertonfc #statistics #careertips #professionaldevelopment #legalrecruitment

The South African Rugby Union rejected Ackerley Sports Group’s $75 million bid for a 20% stake in Springboks’ commercial rights. A rival group offered $375 million for 20–40%, emphasizing local control and financial growth. Ackerley may revise its bid before the year’s exclusivity period ends. People will have the opportunity to comment on proposals to allow a sports pitch in Exeter to be used for training purposes shortly before and during the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. The City Council proposes entering into a short-term lease with Rugby World Cup (2025) Ltd for the land at Exhibition Fields, allowing Pitch 1 to be used by teams preparing for the tournament. Several matches will be held at Sandy Park, Exeter, during the tournament, which takes place in August and September 2025. Rugby World Cup (2025) Ltd requires the premises to be fenced to provide an exclusive and secure pitch for international rugby teams to train on during the tournament. The fencing will be removed at the end of the lease period, which runs from 11 August to 30 September 2025, after the tournament and the completion of any reinstatement works. During this time, the public will not have access to the premises. The remainder of the open space at Exhibition Fields will remain unaffected by this short-term arrangement and will remain available for public use. At the end of the lease, the premises will revert to open space. Read more ▶▶▶ https://lnkd.in/g8kVsNa3
