This post is about an “incremental” improvement that can become a “game changer”. The girl on the photo is my 18-year old daughter, who was on the SQ flight from London to Singapore that went through unexpected extreme turbulence, where a lot of people got hurt. Many people were caught in their sleep. Not everyone was buckled up. My daughter was one of those. She forgot to put her seat belt on at some point. BUT … she was using a travel pillow with an “incremental” improvement - it had straps that attached the pillow to the back of the seat (we find these pillows by Cabeau very comfortable, because they hold the neck straight). I believe this pillow saved my daughter from serious injuries on this flight. The reason I decided to write this post (other than saying thank you to Cabeau for a great innovation and to Singapore Airlines for their utmost professionalism) is that during our current fundraising for Neol Copper Technologies I’ve received feedback that our innovation, which among other delivers fully functional no-SAPS engine lubricants due to an absolutely new approach to providing anti-wear properties, is “incremental” at the current state of our industry, and therefore doesn’t qualify to be considered a “deep-enough-tech”. Now I know for sure that I do not need to fight for the “revolutionary tech” status. I am happy for our tech to be called “incremental” as long as we deliver game-changing results. #innovation, #deeptech, #lubricants

WiTricity has announced two major developments for the future of #EV wireless charging. WiTricity joins four other organizations as a founding member of the Japanese EV Wireless Power Transfer Council. CEO of WiTricity, Alex Gruzen, states “Together with these Japanese industry leaders, WiTricity will help establish technical standards for wireless charging, prove out business models, and drive adoption." With the global semiconductor market expanding, there is a growing demand for microchips. This scenario calls for transformative actions across Finland and Europe. Hence, the launch of new initiatives is crucial to spur the industry. Since 2020, SoC Hub has been instrumental in fostering System-on-Chip design skills, mobilizing companies and nurturing emerging talent. In line with these efforts, Tampere University is introducing a new master’s degree module in SoC design, commencing in the autumn 2024. In addition, Tampere Chips Programme led by Business Tampere is implementing the opportunities of Chips Joint Undertaking to advance Finland's semiconductor industry.
