🚫 Foster Care Myth Busted: "I’m not equipped to be a foster parent.” 🚫 Reality: None of us feel fully prepared for the unknown—but fostering is about answering God’s call to care for vulnerable children with a willing heart and trust in Him. You don’t have to do it alone. God places people in our lives to support and encourage us. At A Door of Hope, we provide the training, resources, and community you need to navigate the journey of fostering. We believe that God works through ordinary people to bring extraordinary hope and healing to children in need. The truth? Being “equipped” isn’t about having it all together—it’s about being willing to take a step of faith and open your home and heart. And when you need the extra support, we will be there to provide it. 🌟 What is Foster Care? A Simple Explanation 🌟 RED Jan day 6. Foster care is a vital system in the UK designed to support children who cannot live with their birth families due to challenging circumstances such as neglect, family breakdown, or illness. When children need a safe and stable environment, foster carers step in to provide that much-needed care. These are everyday people, trained and approved, who open their homes and hearts to give children stability during difficult times. Types of Foster Care: •Emergency fostering: Immediate care for children in crisis. •Short-term fostering: Temporary care while plans for the child’s future are made. •Long-term fostering: For children who need a home but may not be adopted. •Specialist fostering: For children with additional needs. Foster carers receive training, support, and financial allowances to help them provide a nurturing environment. The goal is always the child’s best interest, whether that’s returning to their family, finding an adoptive home, or staying long-term with their foster family. Foster care isn’t just about providing a roof over someone’s head; it’s about creating a sense of belonging and hope when it’s needed most. #FosterCare #ChildWelfare #Support #MakingADifference #SocialImpact

The foster care matching process is often rushed. Sometimes, this is unavoidable. For fostering agencies who offer emergency care, a foster parent may not even have met their foster child until the moment they arrive on the doorstep. At Mosaic, we know fostering success begins with a thoughtful matching experience. Our tried and tested process ensures children are placed in homes where their emotional, psychological and practical needs are met. How does the matching process work? Firstly, we consider each child’s unique needs and the foster family’s strengths and environment. We then move into the introduction phase, bringing families and children together gradually, allowing both parties to build trust and feel comfortable with each other. Meetings might take place in a variety of different environments to allow each party the chance to experience different settings together and give feedback. This helps build familiarity over time so the transition to moving in is much smoother. This phased approach ensures everyone has very best chance of a harmonious and enduring fostering experience. It decreases the likelihood of breakdowns and also enhances the experience for both the child and family. Want to foster with an agency that’s always in your corner? Get in touch today and ask one of our foster parents what it’s like to foster with Mosaic. #FosterCare #ChildStability #LongTermFostering #MosaicFosterCare #FosterCareUK #UKFostering #FosterInTheUK #FosteringChangesLives #AdoptFosterUK #UKAdoption #FosterSupportUK #FosterParentsUK #CareLeaversUK

We often share ways how you can get involved if you aren't a foster parent, but as National Foster Care Awareness Month comes to an end, we want to share this reality: Our country is desperate for more foster parents. You can get down to the nitty-gritty, giving details and specifics for every county in the state and every state in the country, but this truth remains the same: How many children are experiencing foster care? Too many. How many open foster homes are there? Not enough. The stories aren't fiction-- children are sleeping in DCFS offices because state workers can't find an open bed. Kids are being placed into group homes rather than being invited into family settings. Siblings are being separated. It's true that not everyone can be a foster parent... But it's also true that many people can. #fosterthefamily #fosterthefamilyus #thisisfostercare #fostercare #NFCM #fostercareawareness #fosterparent #fosterfamily #everyonecandosomething
