The British Safety Standard is a vast range of rules, regulations, laws and legislation that are in place to ensure products are held up to standard. Electrical products that are sold in the UK are manufactured to strict safety standards, however, occasionally counterfeit electrical products are sold, usually online. Counterfeit parts are prone to inferior components that are poorly structured and not tested to meet British Safety Standards. 📩 customerservice@asparkselectrical.co.uk 🌍 https://lnkd.in/eBuVapEP 📞 020 8914 7870

🔥Did you know? You can have your fire doors "UL 10C Listed by ESL Certification?" The UL 10C test method was created in the late 90s after a comprehensive review of the UL 10B standard test method for fire doors, The significant difference between these methods is that a neutral or negative pressure allowance inside the furnace for UL 10B and UL 10C now introduced a provision for positive pressure inside the furnace. This additional provision is intended to simulate a fire condition more aligned with room fire conditions in a real-world scenario and fire incident. Before 1998, a pressure requirement was not required when running the furnace during a test, so results were only reported for flame and temperature. The additional positive pressure requirement for testing is published in UL 10C, where the previous situation with no pressure requirement is still available under the UL 10B testing method. When the new UL 10C test method was established, the UL 10B method became known as a neutral pressure test method. With UL 10B, the neutral pressure plane is maintained in the furnace at the top of the test specimen assembly. With UL 10C, it is maintained 40” (1016mm) above the floor. 🚨 Important Update for Removal Companies and those moving Household Goods! 🚨 *This message comes to us courtesy of the The British Association of Removers * The Environment Agency is cracking down on Household Goods (HHG) shipments containing electrical items. If your shipment includes electronics, they must be PAT tested and functionality tested by a qualified professional (NVQ Level 3+). Why? To prove they work and aren’t classified as waste (WEEE). Non-functional items are considered waste and face strict export controls, which could result in delays, fines, or even shipment rejections. 🔑 What to do: ◾ Ensure all electrical items are tested. ◾ Include testing evidence & the tester's qualification certificate in the container. BAR is working to clarify these rules, but enforcement is happening now—don’t get caught out! #Logistics #Compliance #Shipping #Removals #International

In the first half of 2023, 5.3% of all electronic products on the European market were banned from sale or recalled because they violated the #RoHS Directive. RoHS stands for “restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment”. This directive aims to limit the use of specific hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. It also aims to decrease pollutant levels to protect people and the environment, while also enhancing recycling efforts. But who exactly is affected by the directive, which substances are restricted, and what exemptions and industry-specific challenges are there? How is it different from REACH and how can product bans or recalls be avoided? Our RoHS training course in July answers these and many other questions. https://lnkd.in/eKqYNNTt
