Cat Mistakenly Sent Through X-ray Machine at Norfolk Airport In a surprising incident at Norfolk International Airport, a cat was mistakenly sent through an X-ray machine. 🐱 The feline traveler, securely tucked in its carrier, was placed on the conveyor belt and passed through the scanner, much to the astonishment of airport security personnel. 😮 The cat’s owner, unaware of the correct procedure for traveling with pets, inadvertently sent the pet through the machine during the routine security check. Fortunately, the cat emerged unscathed, and airport staff quickly reunited the bewildered but unharmed feline with its relieved owner. 😊 This peculiar event has certainly caught the attention of many, highlighting a rather uncommon airport mishap. Both the cat and its owner continued their journey without further incident, leaving behind a memorable story for the airport staff and fellow travelers. ✈️ https://lnkd.in/dcUZg8gk #airports #stories #xray

New taxiway and deicing pad will cut down on delays at Denver International Airport. 🛫 The Taxiway DS East project at Concourse C, which will provide travelers with a newly expanded taxiway, additional deicing spots and new space for storing snow removal equipment, has been turned over to Denver International Airport - City & County of Denver Dept of Aviation ahead of schedule. DEN’s remarkable growth over the years introduced many new challenges. Forty million travelers passed through the facility in the first six months of this year. Among the challenges is building sufficient ice removal infrastructure to ensure planes can take off quickly and safely during the snowy winter months. This new infrastructure will allow planes to get to their destinations faster by storing equipment closer to the concourse. #TransformingInfrastructure #AirportConstruction #AviationProjects

🆘 Our colleagues at MAN Truck & Bus SE are helping to prevent serious bus accidents by integrating a system called "SafeStop Assist". "It happens again and again that the driver is suddenly unable to act due to unforeseen events, such as medical emergencies. The consequences can be devastating," says Barbaros Oktay, Head of the business unit "Bus" at MAN Truck & Bus. For this reason, the MAN experts have worked intensively on a new assistance system that is now available as an option for the MAN Lion's Intercity, the MAN Lion's Coach, the NEOPLAN Tourliner, and the NEOPLAN Skyliner. 🦸♂️ How does it work? The MAN SafeStop Assist system ensures bus #safety by intervening when the driver is inactive. In this case, despite visual, haptic, and acoustic warnings, the system brings the bus safely to a halt. And there is even more: once stopped, the system activates the hazard lights, shifts to neutral, applies the parking brake, unlocks the doors, and turns on the interior lights. 🗨 How important, do you think it is to have a system like this in your vehicle?

39 Flamingos hit aircraft at Mumbai International Airport. Kindly read ToI news dated 22 May 2024. This is not the first time that Flamingos have hit aircraft at any Indian aerodrome. They struck aircraft twice at Delhi International airport around once in 1982 (when the head of a Flamingo was picked up later) and in 2017 when five flamingo carcasses were collected after they grounded a Spicejet aircraft. When the Navi Mumbai International Airport is surrounded by Flamaingo colonies in mudflats the chances of they colliding with aircraft is much more than Delhi or Mumbai international airports. At the onset of Monsoon hundreds and millions of birds and animals visit aerodrome runways and airfield area as a whole to feed on swarming insects and invertebrates as well as vertebrates proliferating in water-logged areas. Do not wait for miracles to save aircraft from collisions with birds and animals. A BASH Management Expert can easily help airport operators save aircraft, passengers and property onboard and on ground. Smart BASH Management is never an accident, but a well-planned and smartly executed BASHM policy. In every town or city water-logging in city and airport land has exacerbated bird strike incidents at any airport. The recent Flamingo hit on Emirates flight to Mumbai can be because their flock of 39-100+ birds must have landed in a cess pool in or around Ghatkopar. https://lnkd.in/dTEppjmG Read through link given below: Airport Operator Liability in the Event of a Bird-strike-induced Aircrash https://lnkd.in/dZAiFrnJ

Around 90% of bird strikes occur below 3,000 feet, primarily during takeoff and landing when aircraft are closer to the ground. This is where we see the highest risk, as both aircraft and birds are navigating the same airspace in and around airports. Interestingly, residential birds—those that reside around the airfield—are responsible for 75-80% of bird strikes due to their constant presence in these zones. Let’s also consider the unique threat posed by migratory birds and the challenges they bring to aviation safety. Birds follow specific flight paths during migration season, often crossing altitudes that align with aircraft during crucial flight phases. While strikes above 5,000 feet remain uncommon, migratory birds can soar at mid-range altitudes during their long flights. A Flair Airlines Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration C-FLKO performing flight F8-641 from Toronto,ON to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) unfortunately met one of these birds on October 24th. As per TSB, Canada "After departing runway 15L, and while climbing through approximately 4000 feet, the aircraft encountered a flock of geese, at least one of which hit the captain's L1 windscreen, causing it to shatter. Portions of the windshield glass entered the flight deck as a result. The flight crew declared PAN PAN and requested to return to CYYZ, where they landed without further incident. As the captain was unable to see forward through the windscreen, the crew requested to be towed to their gate. The captain received minor injuries due to the shattered glass entering the flight deck." In addition to implementing various wildlife hazard management programs, pilots must maintain heightened vigilance, especially during the takeoff, climb and landing phases. Understanding the flying patterns and altitudinal ranges of both migratory and residential birds helps in minimizing risks and protecting both bird populations and passengers. 🌍🛩️ A reminder that shared skies require shared responsibility for the safety of all who navigate them! #AviationSafety #BirdStrikePrevention #MigratoryBirds

How rubbish and debris can occupy multiple vessels and a helicopter? Eyesea A few days ago, a commercial vessel I was on was involved in a SAR event. We deviated from our planned tasks on a Mayday shout after a nearby vessel reported sighting wreckage. Majority of our crew on lookout duties. A lifeboat was dispatched and was OSC, 3 nearby vessels were allocated search patterns with specific courses, distances and speeds to maintain. Intention to find persons or identifying debris. Radio traffic included sightings of: -multiple balloons floating (from a distance could of been a person with only head visible), -trying to identify markings on floating biscuit wrappers (possible duration on water, country of origin), --leggings, cushions, 2metre section of hull... During this time numerous bottles, fishing crates, general plastic were noted and reported in - why? Difficult to identify from a bridge, resembles a 'reflective floating object' which may or may not be important. Another vessel in the vicinity had accidentally sent out a DSC distress call. VTS whilst trying to piece together this incident had to waste several minutes contacting the vessel who was unaware they'd sent a DSC and confirm it was a false alarm. On conclusion the debris was from an earlier wrecked vessel the search was stood down with thanks... Please get involved in beach cleans to stop debris coming back out to sea. Please follow MARPOL and not throw anything over the side. Please know your Radio equipment and always listen VHF Channel 16. Your rubbish could needlessly divert invaluable rescue resources and efforts that could be needed elsewhere. #safety #maritime #environment https://lnkd.in/gtM9Undk
