Have Your Say: Take the NHS Survey We invite you to participate in the Temporary Staffing Efficiencies Programme Survey. Your insights will be instrumental in shaping policies that prioritise patient care, support staff well-being, and enhance financial sustainability across our services. Key Proposals in this Consultation: • Reducing the reliance on agencies for Band 2 and 3 roles: This proposal aims to fill NHS Bands 2 and 3 roles with permanent or bank staff only, allowing agencies, only under specific NHS England exemptions, to ensure patient safety. • NHS PATH: Supporting workforce retention by preventing substantive and bank staff resigning and then offering their services back to the NHS via an employment agency or third-party provider (that is not a bank provider), back to the NHS unless they apply for an NHS vacancy or local bank. How You Can Contribute? Please take a few moments to complete the survey and share it with your teams. Your feedback will ensure that these policies effectively address the needs of our workforce, contributing to a more stable and high-quality NHS service. What did you make of the results of the NHS Staff Survey 2023, which were published at the end of last week? You can read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/eJxExsVv We’re still taking it in, but the charts make for interesting reading, and the site linked above has an interactive dashboard where you can view how respondents replied. Over 87% of those surveyed said they felt their role makes a difference to patients, while 75% said care of patients was their organisation’s top priority. Around 61% would recommend their organisation as a place to work – and around 65% said if a friend or relative needed treatment, they would be happy with the standard of care provided (down from over 71% in 2019). Around 56% of staff felt their organisation acts fairly about career progression or promotion. The results for morale – and those thinking about leaving the profession – also make for interesting reading (see attached chart). Over 29% of staff said they often think about leaving. Over 21% said they will probably look for a job at a new organisation in the next 12 months. And over 15% said they would leave their organisation as soon as they found another job. Click the link above to see trends here. Click here to see all results: https://lnkd.in/e53wHFiD Results for the 2023 NHS Staff Survey for bank-only workers (NSSB) will be released in April. NHS Employers will be discussing the findings from the 2023 NHS Staff Survey in a webinar on Wednesday, March 13. Winter Pressures: Our Role in Supporting the NHS ❄️ As we navigate the winter season, it's more crucial than ever for us as recruitment specialists to support the NHS in managing seasonal pressures. The winter months bring an inevitable surge in healthcare demands, and our prompt response can make a significant difference. One of the most impactful ways we can assist is by expediting the recruitment process for temporary and permanent roles. By maintaining a robust talent pool of qualified healthcare professionals, we ensure that staffing gaps are filled swiftly, reducing the strain on existing NHS staff. Moreover, by understanding the unique needs of different NHS trusts, we can tailor our recruitment strategies to meet specific challenges effectively. Additionally, offering flexible staffing solutions can be a game-changer. Whether it's short-term cover for critical care units or additional support for vaccination centres, our adaptability can help address workforce shortages that intensify during winter. Let's also prioritise mental health support for our healthcare workers, ensuring they have access to necessary resources to cope with increased stress levels. Let's continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our NHS colleagues, providing unwavering support during these demanding months. #WinterHealthSupport #NHSCare #HealthcareRecruitment

📢 New online platform for NHS reform: A step forward? REC Chief Executive, Neil Carberry commented on the launch of Change.NHS.uk: "The government is right to explore new ideas for improving NHS staffing. Years of top-down management have treated staff like volunteers, not employees. We need a better offer for all, recognising that people want flexibility, including working through agencies. Sustainable solutions for temporary staffing are key—chasing unrealistic temp rates has driven up costs, resulting in more expensive emergency shifts. A true partnership between workforce experts, unions, and the NHS is essential to deliver sustainable staffing, great careers, and better value.
