Despite recent policy shifts in the U.S., electric vehicles (EVs) are here to stay. As President Trump signs executive orders to revoke previous EV mandates, industry experts weigh in on the global perspective: 'EVs have already established a presence in the market and are gaining traction worldwide,' Kevin Mixer, a senior director analyst for automotive manufacturing at Gartner, told the Free Press in this article. 'The U.S. represents just one segment of the global market where automakers compete. Any changes in the administration's priorities might impact the timeline for product releases, but not their eventual success.' This insight highlights the resilience of the EV market in the face of changing political landscapes. What's your take?

One of my many issues with Trump is that he politicizes things that shouldn’t be politicized such as restrict cars. I’m perplexed by how much people especially MAGA get negatively triggered by electric cars when it’s just a different kind of propulsion system that moves a car just like a traditional ICE moves a gasoline powered cars. Electric cars is almost like having your cake and eating it too since you get a good fast car that’s technologically advanced while also saving the environment by using a car with no tailpipe emissions whatsoever. Furthermore, electric cars are the way of the future so we should invest in them even more not run away from them. China gets it and that’s why electric cars are so dominant in the Chinese market and elsewhere where Chinese electric cars are sold because they’re mostly good cars at affordable prices especially in third world countries. Within 10 years or so, nobody will be driving any fossil fueled cars in China as well as in other places like Europe so do we really not want to compete in that space? In addition, I’m still very perplexed on why Elon Musk would support Trump considering that Trump wants to do away with any pro EV policies especially those generous tax subsidies of up to $7,500 for a qualifying new electric car and even subsidies that help pay for Tesla chargers? On top of that, Elon benefits from the very same regulations that forces auto companies to make electric cars since car companies that can’t comply with the new emission standards regularly buy carbon credits from Tesla in order to be in compliance with that which represents billions of dollars in easy money for Tesla. So, can someone clarify that seeming contradiction to me? Anyways, electric cars are coming to our shores whether we like it or not. We might as well embrace them for the good of our planet and health. https://lnkd.in/eU2TNsqy

If Trump gets elected he'll save the ICE engine! Yay? Collectively the auto industry isn't holding their breath. Making the sale of purely ICE (internal combustion engine) cars illegal isn't something the lower 48 are clamoring for (beside the 8 states that have adopted the ACCII). The ACCII would start in 2035 but is slated to only target "purely gas-powered vehicles." Want to buy a hybrid? Great, no matter who gets elected, you'll still be able to. So, hydrogen has a little less than a decade to get its act together, but another Trump administration will probably push that target out whereas I'm guessing a democratic term will keep those dates in place (until the inevitable congressional backpedaling). The takeaway? No one will be telling you to not buy a purely gas-powered vehicle any time soon. Unless it's yourself at the pump 😜 Another takeaway: your 90s Corolla will just keep right on racking up those miles whilst vehicles become ever more expensive, complicated, and natural-resource heavy. https://lnkd.in/gA6bXcyF

Fact check: Presidential candidate Donald Trump promised in his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention to "end the electric vehicle mandate on day one" of his presidency in 2025, should he be elected. But there is no EV mandate. The Biden administration set a goal of electric vehicles comprising 50% of new vehicle sales by 2030. Monetary incentives for the purchase or lease of new or used EVs were established by the Inflation Reduction Act. Those are codified into law and can't be ended by the stroke of a pen. Consumers have already spoken about the costs of electric vehicles, reliability and charging challenges. In response, automakers have begun to shift away from large EV investments to hybrid electric vehicles, which are selling well. But the move toward EVs is not limited to the U.S. nor due solely to Biden policies. The world's three largest car markets — China, Europe and the U.S. — are all moving to electric vehicles. Global automakers can't ignore that if they want to survive long-term.

The momentum towards widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow, overcoming ongoing challenges. It's clear: Electric vehicles and charging stations have a symbiotic relationship – as more charging infrastructure becomes available, EV adoption increases, and the growing presence of EVs in turn accelerates the deployment of additional charging stations. From January 1st, Americans buying eligible new electric cars can immediately benefit from the federal electric vehicle tax credit—up to $7,500 off new EVs and $4,000 off used models at participating dealerships—making electric vehicles more accessible and simplifying the buying process. https://lnkd.in/gkZ7KiBf #ElecVulum #HobbsandCo #electricvehicles #evcharger #evcharging #infrastructure

Why do Republicans hate electric cars? 🔋 🚘 There’s a clear split in how EVs are perceived, and it’s along political lines, especially among Republicans - and it's mostly a `murica thing. So, what's really going on here? Is this a branding issue for EVs, or are we looking at a slice of the culture war pie? When you dig into the data, it seems like the resistance to EVs among some Republicans isn't just about the cars. It’s more about what these cars stand for in the political and cultural arena. They’ve become a kind of symbol, a stand-in for a set of policies seen as partisan - liberal at face value. Then it's all hope lost? That’s not how markets work. Video games where seen as the calling of the devil by most republicans in the 90s - same goes for hi-hop. Opinions shift, new data comes in, and viewpoints evolve. There’s room to maneuver here. How can the "EV brand" Pivot? 💵 Talk green but make it money: Industry should focus on how EVs can save money and boost the U.S. economy. Less about being green, more about greenbacks and keeping them in your pocket. 🏈 National pride and local jobs: Beyond just highlighting American innovation, The Ev industry must emphasize their role in bolstering local economies through job creation at manufacturing plants and service centers. Scrap the "China invasion" make it a Detroit one. ⚡ Energy independence messaging: Leveraging the angle of national security through energy independence can be a powerful message. Positioning EVs as a key component in reducing dependence on foreign oil resonates with a broad spectrum of political beliefs, emphasizing sovereignty and security.. Don't make Elon your poster-child - no actually, that might work
Here’s why so many Republicans won’t buy EVs
