Aang’s journey into this work was shaped by a deep personal history, having grown up in severe poverty with parents who struggled with substance abuse and homelessness. A pivotal experience at age 12, during a conflict over racism between their aunt and father, sparked Aang’s awareness of societal inequities and began their lifelong path of questioning deeply ingrained beliefs. Aang’s academic background includes a Master of Social Work (MSW), where they delved deeply into the complexities of bias, violence prevention, and social justice, particularly in military contexts. This foundation, combined with their own life experiences, provided Aang with a unique understanding of leadership’s intersection with social equity, emotional intelligence, and mindfulness. Their personal mission evolved into promoting equity and fostering inclusive environments by recognizing the distinct needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds."

I woke up to this today - a quote from George Bernard Shaw (recited by Jeff Goldbmun who I 💜) captures the essence of true leadership: living for a purpose greater than ourselves. Leadership isn’t about seeking personal gain, but about becoming a “force of nature,” dedicated to making a lasting impact. Leaders don’t wait for the world to make them happy—they see life as a “splendid torch,” meant to burn brightly and be passed on to future generations. The greatest joy comes from being fully used in service to others, embracing life’s challenges, and leaving a legacy that outlives us. « This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. #TheMentorSeries #16 You may have heard of this before. We are not in the same boat, but we are all in the SAME STORM! Is that describing your business situation right now? "Hurricane Helene" hit Florida, US recently first before Hurricane "Monster" Milton hit Florida again that have caused humongous physical damage to one of the richest state in US. Yes... the wrath happened to US and not our countries but the weather patterns communicate with each other. Different storms hit different parts of the world. How's the recent economic pattern which may have hit your business? Problem #1 Different businesses may have different challenges (different boats) but the same business problems (same storm) hit every business. Examples: ineffective marketing & sales, low customer retention, difficult closing, debt collections etc. Problem #2 The nature of any business. One business doing well does not necessarily mean that one will do well if that person/entity take over. Again, different management styles, different outcomes. But one thing remains.... as long as there are people involved, the same challenges apply to every business. As I am writing this, there is a thunder storm outside my window. The storm has triggered my morning thoughts! Problem #3 If you consider every country is like a big business entity, then you will understand that what happens to every country's economics may be different and yet they are all subject to the same threat of economic turbulence nonetheless. US being one of the largest economic power, is not exempted from the hard attack of a looming recession. Japan being a surplus country, has experienced one of the longest decades of recession and lowest currency exchange in recent times. So how do we get out of this or at least, find a way to cope with this?
