Here are some key insights: 🔹 Respiratory Changes: Compression of the downside thoracic wall limits lung expansion, reducing functional residual capacity (FRC). Gravity increases blood flow to the dependent lung, potentially stabilizing ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) ratios. However, the upper lung experiences decreased blood flow, which may lead to hypoxemia. 🔹 Circulatory Changes: Cardiac output may be altered, impacting overall hemodynamics.
