Me and Mikael Jansson just had a great meeting with Hans Andersson Regional manager for Norrbotten at Svenskt Näringsliv, in Luleå. We discussed the exciting investments happening in the region and the challenges that come with them. Norrbotten is on the brink of a new era with major investments from companies like Talga, SSAB, H2 Green Steel, Kaunis Iron, and Hybrit, LKAB, among others. These investments present enormous opportunities, but also bring challenges such as permit processes and a shortage of skilled workers due to low population growth. To ensure sustainable growth and development, extensive investments are needed in housing, infrastructure, and electricity networks. Additionally, social services like healthcare, education, and public services need to be strengthened to meet the increased demand. Tourism is thriving in Norrbotten, but the lack of hotels and increased military presence at F21 and Kallax airport require further development. Improving the business climate is crucial to attract people to move to Norrbotten and support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises. Swedish business community and other stakeholders are actively working on this, as an enhanced attractiveness of the region is essential to attract both residents and businesses. Our meeting in Luleå also gave us the opportunity to meet with various companies and discuss their role in the region's growth and development.
