Family disconnected? 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲. Kids fighting? 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲. We all know, deep down, that nature has the power to heal, restore, and reconnect us. But in today’s fast-paced, screen-dominated world, it’s easy to forget to actually live that truth. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀, 𝘄𝗲—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀—𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸. So, in 2025, our family is taking a stand. We’re joining the 1000 Hours Outside challenge: a global movement that encourages families to step away from screens and reconnect with the outdoors. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: 1000 hours outside in 365 days. And here’s how we’re doing it: For every hour we spend outside, we’ll add a pebble to a mason jar to track our progress. Each pebble represents not just an hour outside—but a symbol of our commitment to making screen-free memories together as a family. 𝗜𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆—𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄—𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀? If you're anything like me, you're a busy parent who wants a summer filled with fun, not stress. I spin the plates of agency owner and solo parent trying to have fun and entertain my daughter. The juggle is real, and it's easy to get to September feeling burnt out and guilty because I haven't taken enough time for me, or for her. September is the start of our financial year at The Marketing Collective and I always wish for a flying start but the reality is that I am knackered and feel panicked. This summer I have decided to document my self-care mission with an element of accountability. So I am sharing my journey to find more balance, prioritise self-care, and create a summer that feels more enjoyable. I have rituals that I KNOW help and improve my emotional, mental, and general well-being - but in the summer, when out of routine, they can go out the window, and then after 6 weeks 'off' it's even harder to get back to them. So, every single day in August, I'll be sharing a quick and easy self-care activity that I will be doing myself. These are not elaborate, time-consuming rituals – we're talking about 5-10 minute moments that can make a HUGE difference in how I feel.
