Next week we celebrate the European #MobilityWeek, and the changes we’ve seen in recent years in terms of innovation are impressive 🚲 🛴 🚌. During this time, we’ve witnessed how the use of technology is making cities more efficient in managing traffic and transportation. The rise of mobility apps that combine public transport routes, bike-sharing, and scooter-sharing on a single platform has entered our lives to make moving around the city easier. They allow us to navigate the city quickly and sustainably, without relying on a private vehicle. But one of the most exciting things we’re seeing is how cities are starting to plan with both the environmental and social impacts of transportation in mind. Areas are being designed where cars aren’t necessary, where short distances are prioritized and where it’s easier to walk or cycle than to hop in a car. These changes will allow us to live in more liveable and people friendly cities. #Mobility #Sustainability

Are cities ready to make micromobility work for everyone? As e-scooters gain popularity in urban hubs like London 🇬🇧, finding the right regulatory approach is key to fostering safe, sustainable shared micromobility. Here’s what cities should keep in mind, according to Movability: 🏛 ✍ Balance Regulations: Overregulation can stifle innovation and deter e-scooter operators from entering or staying in markets. 🅿 🛴 Encourage Good Parking: Providing ample parking bays and issuing parking tickets for violations can lead to safer, more organized streets. 🛑 🚧 Keep Compliance Manageable: Simplifying tender processes and avoiding high regulatory fees lowers barriers for operators, encouraging better service and affordability. 📊 🏙 Limit Digital Constraints: Geofencing can help manage e-scooter use, but too much can disrupt user experience and adoption. As cities aim to reduce emissions and congestion, how can they best support a thriving, responsible e-scooter market? Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dFva9ahH

It's not just about the fiscal bottom-line, but about creating the future cities we want to live in. While profitability isn't a requirement for bus transit, we often expect it from other public benefits. That's why investing in micromobility is such an important step towards reducing congestion, lowering emissions, and offering more inclusive mobility options. The ROI case is clear, but the investments needed cannot be expected from private companies or users. Check out this article to learn more the journey about managing micromobility as transit. #micromobility #publicinvestment #futurecities #bikeep

Mobility with a purpose 💡 In a world of growing complexity, climate change and tremendous impact on our security, the freedom to move feels restricted. That's why we at e.GO have made it our goal to provide mobility without regret - at the highest possible level of convenience for our everyday urban lives. There is one topic in the automotive industry which is particularly relevant, because it has reached the next stage of evolution and therefore significantly affects the industry: sustainability. We think about sustainability in a holistic way. Our cars are emission-free. But we go much further: we have engineered a radically different, modular construction and created an innovative plastic skin. Thus, our cars are characterized by longevity the possibility of refurbishing and recyclability. We are at the forefront of the circular economy. Also, our micro-factories are highly efficient, local, adaptable and agile. ♻️ Urban mobility done right from the ground up. A mindful and intelligent use of natural resources is a prerequisite, living in today’s world. Everything we do is geared towards a better future. Therefore, we do not shut our eyes to the challenges ahead, but face them with optimism and logic. We don't adapt to trends, but consistently follow what we believe provides most value in the most logical way. The Time is Now. 🚀 We reflect our deep belief in the urgency of collective action and the need for individual responsibility to combat climate change. We should challenge old habits and limitless consumption and rethink mobility with a focus on improved use and the circular economy. Our children have only one planet on which to live. 🌍 #eGOMobile #purpose #mobility

Having your own car, bike or moped may be convenient but it’s also clogging up our city centres. Shared mobility can make cities easier to navigate and improve air quality. But adopting it efficiently is easier said than done. Maaike Snelder enjoys a puzzle which comes in handy when designing complex traffic and transport networks. "I don’t concentrate on individual solutions but on the effect they have on the bigger picture. What is the best way of organising and combining different solutions in an area?"
