Quinn Emanuel Brussels Partner Trevor Soames, together with Counsel Athena Kontosakou and Associate Christina Kolotourou contributed to a Liber Amicorum, published by Concurrences, which is a tribute to honour James F. Rill’s career and achievements in the realm of international antitrust law and policy. In their contribution chapter on “Legal Professional Privilege: A Transatlantic Perspective”, Trevor, Athena and Christina discuss the current state of legal professional privilege in the EU and the US and examine certain aspects of the divergence between the rules governing legal professional privilege on each side of the Atlantic, the gaps and uncertainty that result from that divergence, the associated risks for corporations with operations in different jurisdictions, as well as possible ways forward. Their chapter is one of 21 essays included in the publication, all written by leading antitrust enforcers, academics and practitioners from throughout the world. The publication is available in hardcover and online now: https://lnkd.in/ePfBTcja Find out more about Quinn Emanuel’s Antitrust and Competition Practice: https://lnkd.in/erRJMPCh #quinnemanuel #nofirmlikeours #learnfromthebest

Here's a little video from last week, and a link to the FTIL Europe winners for 2024. I know it's a cliche, but it is dramatic how much the profession is changing. My intro article for the FT report talks about how the US law firms' expansion in Europe, and their exponential growth overall, is disrupting historical law firm hierarchies. For many law firm leaders, this is way more worrying than the impact of gen AI on their business models. I predict that over the next couple of years, we are really going to see the difference between those firms who have a strong, clearly articulated strategy and those who don't. Thanks as always to the generous insights from the law firm leaders I speak to every year who also inform the agenda for the FT/RSGI Global Summit, to name a few: Alan Mason, Hervé Ekué, Michael Davison, Paul Lewis, Shane Gleghorn, Sabine Comis at Dechert LLP, Duncan Weston, PhD, Stephen Kensell at Latham & Watkins, Neel Sachdev Thanks also to the FT team, Harriet Arnold and Robert Grange for so many things! & team RSGI! https://lnkd.in/dh89ZTZ9

Thanks to WIPR - World IP Review for recognizing Epstein Becker & Green, P.C. in its 2024 USA Trade Secret Rankings as a "Recommended" firm and me as a "Recommended" individual (full link below). A great team effort! "Peers count Erik Weibust as an 'extremely experienced and strategic trade secrets/employee mobility litigator'. One high-profile peer describes him as 'a tremendous, brilliant lawyer'. When necessary, Erik provides aggressive representation for his clients in litigation, where he has won substantial victories in court and at the negotiating table, including broad-reaching injunctive relief and multimillion-dollar payouts, in trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, and breach of restrictive covenant cases."

Congratulations to all who took part in Chambers USA 2024, with rankings just launched today. Some nice results. Obviously not every ranking can advance every year, but what is clear is that these things take time, and having done this now for almost four years (where did the time go...?) there's value in persisting and being consistent in taking part. It's not about spin, but rather finding a route for a team's excellence to come through, even if it doesn't happen immediately. Well done to the Chambers team once again, both from the research side and also the highly active commercial team too. It will be interesting to see how Chambers continues to advance on the commercial side now, under new ownership. #chambers #chambersusa #chambersandpartners #law #lawyers #lawfirmmarketing
