Most hot tub manufacturers say you will not add more than $1 a day in utility costs with a hot tub, with high estimates ranging up to $80 a month in added utility costs. To help keep these costs down, consider: 💧 Keeping your hot tub fully insulated 💧 Have a hot tub cover 💧 Make use of thermal blankets which float on the hot tub water’s surface and keep heat in 💧 If you’re using a newer model, keeping the hot tub on may actually be more efficient than reheating the water every time 💧 Buy the right size of hot tub, if you don’t have many people using it, a smaller hot tub will save you money #UCAHelps #UtilitiesConsumerAdvocate

Ducts that move air to-and-from a forced air furnace, central air conditioner, or heat pump are often big energy wasters. Prioritize sealing ducts located in areas such as the attic, crawlspace, unheated basement, or garage. Utilize duct sealant (mastic) or metal-backed (foil) tape to seal the seams and connections of these ducts. Once sealed, wrap them in insulation to prevent heat loss in winter or heat gain in summer. Subsequently, address any other accessible ducts within the heated or cooled parts of the house for further sealing.

Prevent Freezing pipes and taps this winter, here's how: 1. Insulate pipes - use foam insulation to cover exposed pipes and prevent condensation. 2. Drip faucets - Allow faucets to drip slowly with cold water, this keeps water moving and reduces pressure. 3. Seal drafts - Seal those drafts around pipes, dryer vents and electrical wiring. 4. Close garage doors - High amounts of concrete tent to keep pipes cold. 5. Disconnect garden hoses - Disconnect hoses from faucets to prevent water from freezing in the hose and supply line. 6. Shut off water supply - If water is not needed everywhere, turn off the supply wherever possible. #freezing #tips
