Empowering the Next Generation of Builders 🔧 Over 2,300 high school students from Northern California recently gathered at Sacramento's Cal Expo for High School Trades Day. This event offered hands-on experiences in construction, where seasoned workers can earn over $70 an hour. For many young people, like 17-year-old Jaea Chatman from Natomas High School, this day was an exciting step toward exploring a career path outside the traditional college track. In a time when the construction industry faces critical labor shortages, events like these are essential. They help students discover the potential of high-paying trade careers and highlight the importance of skill-building from a young age. Careno Construction has been busy for the past two months developing a Capital Improvements Plan for the Stratham Memorial School. Working with the Building Committee and School Administration; Careno Construction was able to develop a plan and scope of work that addresses the needs for Additional Education Space, Life Safety and ADA Code Compliance, Increased student safety, Infrastructure repair and Energy upgrades; while meeting the budget target of $12 M.

We are excited to support Northern Counties Builders Federation (NCBF) (NCBF) with the launch of the Building Your Future campaign, which matches students undertaking construction studies at colleges across the North East of England with local employers. So which Councils did not make it for the initial deadline? I have projects in several where the highest Class of registration is CLASS 1. Ashford, Dover, Ealing, Maidstone, Merton, RBKC, ... others have 1 person in a higher class but rarely for a higher-risk building. How is your local council doing? Will they make it for the extension? From my perspective, they are either silent or hoping for the best from the email exchanges I had with them.
