I am deeply troubled by the recent statement made by the weak adminstration in Mogadishu regarding the operation of the Ethiopian diplomatic office in Hargeisa. Let me set the record straight: the #Ethiopian diplomatic office in the Republic of Somaliland was not initially opened with the failed Somalia's permission and, as such, will not be closed henceforth due to Mogadishu's refusal. It is unwise and equally undiplomatic to demand the closure of an embassy of a sovereign nation. Diplomatic relations between countries should be based on mutual respect and understanding, not on unilateral demands. The Ethiopian diplomatic office in Hargeisa has been officially operating for the past 30 years and promotes the mutual interests between the two nations; the Republic of Somaliland and the Ethiopian Federal Government. It has also played a crucial role in maintaining regional security. Furthermore, it is a diplomatic failure to file a complaint with the Ethiopian Embassy in Mogadishu, with a request for the closure of the diplomatic office in Hargeisa. Such actions only serve to strain already fragile relations between our two nations. Instead, let us focus on promoting peace, cooperation, and development in the region. I urge all parties involved to approach this matter with diplomacy and respect for each other's sovereignty. The Ethiopian diplomatic office in Hargeisa has been a symbol of strong and longstanding relations between our two nations and should not be threatened by political tensions. Let us work towards finding amicable solutions through dialogue and cooperation. #Ethiopia #Somaliland #diplomacy #mutualrespect #regionalpeace #cooperation #development
