How should a Gaming & Apps company think about LTV & ROAS I remembered since 9 years ago, we have been discussing with Gaming & Apps partners whom monetise through In App Ads on LTV. We all know that LTV is a function of Retention and ARPU (average revenue per paying users). And our ultimate goal should be in keeping our users happy - make our users purchase / engage with your ads more (increase the revenue "frequency") and stay longer in your App. In this context, it's important to have a deeper analysis and understanding of: - How much each new customer is worth - How much you can pay to acquire that customer Now you understand the concepts of LTV, the next question would be: how can you then tie them back to your marketing strategy? 2 tips I would like to share with you: - Set the right target ROAS to increase your Long Term Revenue from each channel you are advertising on. For channels with high LTV, you can bid aggressively in the short term by lowering ROAS. & for the ones with low LTV, invest smartly. - Understand which component is negatively impacting your LTV to prioritise product efforts – Is retention bringing it down or ARPU? and work on it to improve the overall LTV. On retention, it's critical to keep your users happy. When it comes to bidding / optimisation, you can increase retention by identifying how to include higher value events into bidding. Yet the fundamental is to continuously improve overall App quality so that users would want to come back and engage with your Games / Apps.
