PLAY Airlines has announced the launch of twice-weekly flights to Valencia, Spain, starting May 24, 2025, with services running on Tuesdays and Saturdays until the end of September. As a low-cost carrier, PLAY connects North America and Europe via its hub in Iceland, offering passengers the option to explore Iceland for up to 10 days at no extra cost during their journey. The airline currently operates from North American cities including Baltimore, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., and Toronto. With Valencia, PLAY now serves nine Spanish destinations, expanding its presence in Spain, a key market for the airline. PLAY’s modern fleet of 10 Airbus A320/321neo aircraft ensures a comfortable and reliable travel experience, achieving an 83% on-time performance in 2023. CEO Einar Örn Ólafsson highlighted Spain’s importance to PLAY’s network and the additional travel options this new route provides for passengers.

LUFTHANSA I’M THROUGH WITH YOU! This was one of the safest and most reliable airlines in the world, with an excellent customer service. But not anymore. We used them for a flight from Bucharest to Bilbao which was supposed to take about 4 hours. Two days later we are still on the road. How is that possible? First plane departed late from Bucharest and we missed our connection in Munich. We had to spend the night in the airport because that was the last flight. #Lufthansaairlines didn’t provide any accommodations, food or anything. We couldn’t find any live agents in the airport, only machines. The next day they rebooked us on another flight to Bilbao but this time through Valencia, instead of giving us a direct flight to Bilbao. But in Valencia they also arrived late and we missed this flight again. Our only option was to wait another day to be rebooked, or rent a car and drive ourselves 600 Km to Bilbao from Valencia, where they left us. In time for summer 2024, United Airlines is launching a new route from San Francisco to Barcelona on May 23, 2024, and it is slated to run through Oct. 25.  The 5,970-mile flight service will operate daily between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN) with Boeing 777-200ER planes. The aircraft is outfitted with 50 Polaris business-class lie-flats, 24 Premium Plus recliners, 46 Economy Plus seats, and 156 standard economy seats. The airline already flies nonstop to Barcelona from #Newark, Chicago O’Hare, and Washington/Dulles. The new #SanFrancisco route will make the airline the only U.S. carrier to fly nonstop between SFO and Europe, joining #Spain’s national carrier Iberia. United plans to operate 30% more flights to Spain during 2024 as compared to 2023.
