Golf OECD refers to a rule that imposes a penalty on golfers who win prize money above a certain level (usually above 60,000 KRW or $60), requiring them to return a portion of their winnings. This is similar to how developed countries provide resources to less developed countries. If you win above $60, you join Golf OECD for the entire 18 holes. If a player who is in the OECD hits out of bounds (OB), into a water hazard, or bunker, or records a three-putt or triple bogey, a fine is imposed (usually $10 per hole). This means if a golfer joins the OECD in the early 1-9 holes, there can be cases where the fines exceed the prize money in the later holes. Therefore, many golfers who are not top-tier manage their scores carefully to avoid joining the OECD in the early holes. While this rule may be disadvantageous for top golfers, beginner golfers who happen to win a lot with luck and join the OECD early might end up losing a significant amount of money.
