Across India at least, Biotechnology is not a buzzword in the aspect of career because of the number of jobs available in the industry. I see a few reasons 1. Research is not translated into products for the public 2. The number of innovations is comparatively less than in other industries 3. The development and understanding are slow as we are not the creators, unlike the other technology. Just talking about the terms Biotechnology was termed in 1919 and Information Technology was termed in 1958 which says biotech has been in the scene quite for long than the hot trends right now. Also Biotech is a field that makes the highest and most direct impact on humankind, Now what should be happening in the biotech industry that that it can be more consumer-based and that can create more employment. I heard someone recently saying as biotech is integrated with engineering the scope of growth is tremendous, again here its the information and data which is going to be digital technology that might change the career landscape in biotech. Ultimately anything comes near to easy human understanding, it finds its way to the top of the hill! In a nutshell, if you are in the bio field you will have a great future if you focus on the digital tech aspect of biology. Cheers Students in the Biotech field can thank me later.! Economic Impact: $1.7 Trillion in Economic Impact (1996-2017): According to a 2019 report by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), university and nonprofit patent licensing contributed up to $1.7 trillion to U.S. gross industrial output and $865 billion to GDP between 1996 and 2017. 2. Job Creation: 5.9 Million Jobs Created (1996-2017): The same BIO report estimated that university and nonprofit patent licensing supported up to 5.9 million jobs during this period, highlighting the significant role of tech transfer in job creation. 3.
