Yeah, I tried to save some money flying with Allegiant. No, it did not work out in my favor. It is easy to be a bit cheeky about this and just move on. But, also, the way airlines (Breeze, Spirit, Frontier, and Sun Country have similar policies) implement this probably should be revisited by the DOT. After all, having the counter open just 2 hours each week is hardly a reasonable option for the vast majority of consumers. #paxex #aviation #ancillaryfees
Want to save a bit of cash when flying Allegiant? It is possible, thanks to a quirky tax play the airline makes. But it is not without risk of actually paying more for the trip. Ask me how I know. https://lnkd.in/esB7BKed #paxex
Saving on Allegiant’s optional fees can come with a cost

What Is TOMS? In its simplest form, TOMS is a VAT scheme designed for businesses that buy in and resell travel services, such as accommodation, excursions, and transport. Instead of applying VAT rules to each individual service, TOMS simplifies things by taxing your profit margin—the difference between the selling price and the cost of sales. At ABM Orkney, we take the time to explain this concept in a way that’s easy to understand, ensuring you’re not left guessing how it applies to your business. STATE BODIES FALLING OVER THEMSELVES TO SCREW UP IRELAND INC. Bad enough that Fingal County Council (FCC) imposed a limit on the number of people who could fly out of Dublin Airport because they worried about the number of people who could drive there. Bad enough that the DAA sat on it's hands for years, boating about the fantastic growth in passenger numbers, before realising that they were about to breach the FCC imposed limits. Too late then, to be engaging with our slothful planning process to get some headroom. Now another state body - The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) - yet another quango that is involved in allocating landing and take-off slot limits has joined the (public sector) party with a reduction in allowed flight slots for summer 2026. Enormous projects like this must be handled by the public sector. But if you want a job screwed up, there are no better qualified people to do it. This mess, like so many other major cock-ups, is the natural working out of leaving a dysfunctional, disorganised and disjointed public sector to run itself. State bodies protect themselves, do not engage in any meangingful way with other state bodies and only focus on their own patch. They obstruct change and improvement, in favour of comfort and an easy life and, as can be seen from the Dublin Airport mess, they are a negative influence on Irish business and commerce. We desperately need a public service that sees itself and being paid to serve the public and not themselves. We also need politicians who see public sector workers as people employed to do a job - and do it properly - rather than a voting block to be pandered to. We do have a Minister for Public Sector Reform. Public sector reform? Has anyone noticed any? JOHN GALLIGAN TRAVEL - This Dublin Airport mess is only one expample of what is rotten in our public sector delivery. Tax payers of Ireland deserve better value for money.
IAA sets 25.2 million passenger cap for Dublin Airport next summer
