Over a year of hard work and many discussions later - we've finally done it! Achieving performance parity with some of the best MEAs on the market using our patented next-generation #mesoporous carbon platinum-alloy catalysts integrated in ionysis GmbH 200 cm² active area hydrocarbon-based MEA configuration. 🚀 Matthias Breitwieser it is a pleasure not only to work together on such an exciting project funded by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), but also pushing the boundaries of #hydrogen #fuelcell performance! 🤝 We can draw quite some parallels with mesoporous carbon catalysts for PEM fuel cells as what has been the issue with #graphene - amazing in theory, but very hard to also realize these amazing properties in practice. At ReCatalyst we have the in-depth experience of how to put this theory into practice and boost the performance of PEM fuel cells. 💪

On the one hand, ReCatalyst has been able to develop a new generation of #fuelcell catalyst materials based on mesoporous carbons, the production of which has also been filed as a patent. On the basis of these novel materials, the ionysis team has been able to develop full-format #fuelcells (commercial cell platform with approx. 200 cm² active area), which have for the first time achieved the project performance target of over 2 A/cm² at 0.65 V.
