This summer’s Midlands Engine Midlands Economic Briefing, convened by Amanda Allan from Barclays' Eagle Labs, brought together over 100 stakeholders to explore how place-based investment can unlock the region’s potential. Our Co-Founder, Mark Hepworth, joined a panel with Dr. Lisa Smith from Midlands Mindforge and Megan Powell Vreeswijk from Marketing Nottingham & Nottinghamshire to discuss strategies for driving sustainable growth in key sectors and delivering positive impacts for communities across the Midlands. Delighted to share Southern Housing's 2023/24 Financial Statements and 2024 ESG Report to Investors. The central theme in both reports being our continuing elevated levels of investment into our existing homes: our repairs service; remediating building safety concerns; retrofitting and driving sustainability. To do this we've diverted financial capacity away from building new social housing, but remain hopeful government can change the playing field and enable us to pick up on new housing development activity. Our financial resilience is underlined by liquidity of nearly £1bn, our strong asset base (>£10bn on a valuation basis), and our rigorous focus on maintaining and improving operational performance for the benefit of our residents. https://lnkd.in/e5puugRB

#USAConference 2024 After a short break, we are refreshed and filled with new ideas. Now it's time for our last thematic block of this year's conference: ESG & Overall Investor Sentiment We're starting with an interview about US Affordable Housing with Daryl J Carter, Chairman and CEO of Avanath Capital Management, LLC and David Rückel, Managing Partner at PIA Pontis Institutional Advisors GmbH. Enjoy! Daryl emphasises the importance of providing affordable housing given the average income. It is clear that affordable housing is not a niche, but a basic need. He emphasises that the need for additional properties varies between 5 and 7 million. Daryl sees a great need for intergenerational housing in particular. The market for affordable housing in the USA is regulated. This makes it special and all the more important to respond to customer needs. At present, the further expansion of the urgently needed supply is failing primarily due to a lack of capital. That's a great hook for all investors present! Finally, Daryl discusses the impact of #ESG on the business model. First and foremost are the energy saving measures, which primarily benefit the users. But the "S" is also an important factor. Programmes and support are developed and offered here. Thank you, Daryl, for this exciting overview of this market, which is no longer a niche market. #FondsForum #USRealEstate #Investments #USInvestments fiveandfriends
