You might think they’ve forgotten you. That too much time has passed. But I’m here to tell you, it’s not true. I know what it’s like to leave the military with a heavy heart. To fade into the shadows, letting the silence grow between you and those you once stood shoulder to shoulder with. The guilt, the shame, the belief that you’re now on different paths—it can feel insurmountable. But here’s the thing. Those connections made in the crucible of service? They’re forged in steel, not sand. They don’t just disappear because life took you in different directions. Reaching out might feel like lifting a hundred-pound weight. But when you do, something incredible happens. The sound of their voice, that familiar laugh—it brings something back to life inside you. Suddenly, there’s this rush of energy, a warmth spreading through your chest. It’s dopamine. It’s oxytocin. It’s a reminder that you’re not alone in this world. Every week, take a moment to reconnect with someone from your military days. It doesn’t matter if it’s been months, years, or decades. You might just find that they needed to hear your voice as much as you needed to hear theirs. It’s never too late to rekindle those bonds. It’s never too late to rediscover that part of yourself. Because in the end, they probably do give a damn about you. More than you might think. Let those reunions be your motivation, your source of strength for the challenges ahead. You might be surprised at how much brighter your week looks when you have those calls to look forward to. #IGY6 #VeteransSupport #MilitaryFamily #Brotherhood #VeteranLivesMatter #SupportOurTroops #MentalHealthAwareness #EndVeteranSuicide #PTSDAwareness #CombatVeterans

From the Navy to Now: Navigating Life's Waters From the deck of a ship to the boardroom, the journey has been anything but smooth sailing. The Navy taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of navigating through storms. But it didn't prepare me for the challenges that awaited on land: the tumultuous waves of a divorce, the undertow of domestic violence, and the solitary responsibility of raising a child. This battle left me broken, battered, and bruised emotionally, physically, and financially. Yet, just as a ship finds its course through the roughest seas, I've found my way. Resilience is my anchor, determination my compass, and hope my guiding star. I've learned that strength isn't about never falling, but about rising every time you do. To all the women facing their own storms, remember: You are stronger than you think. Let's connect, share experiences, and build a community of support. Together, we can weather any storm. Ready to turn your storms into strength? Let's navigate this journey together. Share your story, find support, and discover the resilience within you. DM me to connect. Psst, I just really enjoy the color red. #MondayMotivation #NavyVet #Resilience #WomenInLeadership #StrongerTogether #Survivor #FinanciallySavvy #UniversalWealthMindset

What does remembrance day mean to you? As a child, I viewed Remembrance Day primarily as an opportunity to observe the various branches of the armed forces on display. While I understood the day was meant to honour the fallen, my focus was largely on recognising the contributions of those who lost their lives during World War I and World War II. I acknowledge that I cannot fully comprehend the experiences of individuals who endured those conflicts, and I can only imagine the tremendous sacrifices that were made. Thus, in my youth, I perceived Remembrance Day as a commemoration of the events of those two world wars. Now, as a veteran of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, my perspective on Remembrance Day has evolved significantly. As we observe Remembrance Day, I am reminded of two key aspects: first, the brave men and women serving in challenging environments, often facing danger daily in distant lands. Second, I reflect on the families who have suffered the loss of loved ones, not only in battle but also those who wore the uniform and are no longer with us. I empathize with their feelings of loneliness as they grapple with their loss while navigating a society that may not visibly acknowledge the ongoing impacts of war. Remembrance Day serves as an important reminder of the hardships endured by those who came before us and the struggles many continue to face. Moreover, I remember those who were not taken from us on distant battlefields but rather succumbed to the internal battles they faced, which ultimately overwhelmed them. For me, the essence of this day can be encapsulated in the poignant words of the Kohima Epitaph: "When you go home, tell them of us and say for their tomorrow we gave our today.

🌟 To Our Comrades-in-Arms: A Tribute to the Absent 🌟 In honour of Remembrance Day, I’d like to share a piece of our Canadian military traditions, as I remember them. Gatherings to remember those who have left us are filled with respect and emotion. Each tribute honours not only the service given but also the bonds formed over time. Here is a toast often heard on these occasions (forgive any slight variations): Toast: "To those who are not here with us, to our forgotten friends, and to those who will not return…" Responses: "To absent friends!" and/or "Through adversity to the stars." (Per ardua ad astra) These words express a deep respect for each individual’s journey. In gatherings for a specific fallen comrade, the response sometimes varies depending on the relationship shared: For a close friend: "To the stars." A personal way to remember a special bond and to wish they shine beyond. For a colleague with whom the path may have been challenging: "Through adversity." A sincere tribute, honouring each unique journey. For a less familiar comrade, or in a general tribute: "Through adversity to the stars." The full expression, symbolizing our gratitude for service and sacrifice. For those who might wonder why the toast is only for the absent, it’s because our friends who are here stand beside us, raising their glasses with us. They are not “absent friends.” In many military traditions, however, a simpler version of this toast is widely used, especially in informal gatherings and commemoration ceremonies. This shorter version—"To absent friends"—carries the same depth of respect and camaraderie, while allowing each participant to reflect personally in silence. It is a tribute that resonates with many for its simplicity and its universality. In these uncertain times, may these words remind us of the values of solidarity, perseverance, and respect for those who have served and for those who are no longer with us. Let's we forget 🌺 #JourDuSouvenir #RemembranceDay #ÀNosAmisAbsents #ToAbsentFriends #HommageAuxDisparus #HonouringTheFallen #NousNousSouvenons #WeRemember #MilitaryTraditions
