But here’s how I’m getting through it: 1️⃣ Planning is Everything I’ve learned that having a solid study plan makes all the difference. Breaking down topics and dedicating time each day helps keep the stress under control. 2️⃣ Active Learning > Cramming Instead of cramming, I’m focusing on active learning—solving questions, working through projects, and discussing key concepts with peers. This approach has been a game-changer for retention and understanding. 💡 3️⃣ Mental Breaks Matter In between study sessions, I make sure to take breaks to recharge. 12 Things To Note as a University Student Part One 1) Graduating with an accumulative GPA of 3.2 and above or while not a First Class degree is easy and very important even though some will say it doesn't matter, but take it from me, it does. 2) To be a top tier student, you have to attend all your lectures and make sure you don't sleep on your notes. What do I mean? Make sure you read all your notes in the evening when you come back from school. "Procrastination is the worse illness that can affect a student". 3) Keep around you those friends who can help you achieve your goals and not those who always want you all to hit the night club every weekend. Remember, I am not in any way saying that you shouldn't catch fun sometimes. But you should equally know that the kind of friends you keep around you is an average of who you are. 4) Have a plan. A study plan, A life plan,...etc. A plan is like a road map guiding you every step of the way. But don't just have a plan, make sure you follow your plan, and make adjustments if you must. 5) Learn something new and add more value to yourself. Always make sure you are in the quest for new knowledge, for knowledge power as they always say. 6) Identify who you want to become and start working on yourself now towards becoming that person. Make sure you look for a mentor and a role model. - A mentor (coach) is someone who guides and gives you directions on a daily towards becoming a better person. - A role model is that person who you look up to maybe in your desired career path. "We do not learn from experience... we learn from reflecting on experience." - John Dewey You know that feeling when you were the star student in school, but then college hits and suddenly you're... not? 🌟➡️😕 Yeah, that was me. I was that kid who always had the answers, the one with the perfect grades. Then university came along, and it felt like someone had switched off my brain. 🎓🔌 My grades dropped, my confidence vanished, and I kept asking myself, "What's wrong with me?" 📉😔 But here's the thing - I never actually sat down to figure it out. Not until my mom started asking, "Hey, what's going on?" She'd follow up with, "You don't have to tell me, but be honest with yourself." So, I finally did it. I sat down and really thought about what I used to do differently. And you know what? It was eye-opening. 👀💡 Here's what I realized: Back in school, I: 1.Used the Feynman Technique (basically, teaching others to understand better myself) 🧑🏫 2.Always tried to connect what I learned to real life 🔗🌍 Now in university, I'm: 1.Drowning in too many study resources 📚🌊 2.Skipping out on study group discussions 👥 It hit me - I'd stopped reflecting on my learning. I wasn't doing what Dewey talked about in that quote up there. So, here's my plan: I'm going back to basics. I'm going to use those old techniques again, but with a twist - learning from my past mistakes too. 🔄✨ I'll give this a shot for a month and see what happens. By breaking down what needs to be done into clear steps, students know exactly what to focus on, which helps eliminate distractions. 🧠 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲-𝗕𝗼𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 We use focused time slots for practice, like the Pomodoro technique—25 minutes of intense focus followed by a short break. This helps students maintain their concentration and reduces mental fatigue, making it easier to enter that flow state. 🧠 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Providing questions that are at just the right level of challenge keeps students engaged.
