Row-level security (RLS) in Power BI empowers users to restrict data access for specific users. By utilizing filters at the row level and defining them within roles, users can control data visibility. It's important to note that RLS only impacts users with Viewer permissions, not affecting Admins, Members, or Contributors. In the Power BI service, users granted access to a workspace automatically gain access to the semantic models within that workspace. #PowerBI #DataSecurity #RowLevelSecurity

Microsoft Entra Security Group, FKA AAD-SG, is supported only with Power BI Row-Level Security (RLS), which limits data access for users with Viewer permissions at workspace level. Unfortunately, AD groups are not supported and users with access to a workspace can still access the semantic models within that workspace. #AzureCloud #Power-BI #analytic #reporting #PBI #PowerBI #ServiceFabric # https://lnkd.in/gyVCSt42

Security groups, distribution groups, M365 groups, huh wut? How do I know which one I need for granting access to #PowerBI objects? Fortunately, Gilbert Quevauvilliers has us covered. And thanks to Gabi Münster for pointing out this gem! Go ahead and bookmark this oldie-but-goodie because you'll definitely want to refer back to it. https://lnkd.in/eV8sNAY2

How can one read the active security roles in a Tabular model for Power BI or Analysis Services? This can be achieved by using a DAX measure! This way, you can use measures and calculation groups to customize a report based dynamically on security roles active for the current user. Someone in the comment said “Very elegant! I wish I had come up with the idea first”. Is our solution elegant enough? 😉 See it for yourself in the extended version: https://lnkd.in/dqG55uqw

SETTING UP ROLE LEVEL SECURITY What is role level security: It is the application of security measures based on roles. By defining rules and the roles they apply to, you can manage and restrict access the user has to a dataset. How to set up RLS: Two steps apply which is done first on Power BI desktop and the next on Power BI service. Define the roles in Power BI desktop Go to the Modelling tab Click on Manage roles Click on the plus icon to create a new role Select the specific table where the attribute is present Use the filter or write the DAX to define the role. The syntax is [column name]= “specified information that should be seen by the role” Add Users to the role on Power BI service Publish the report to Power BI Service Go to your dataset and select "Security." Add the suited users to the roles created #talksaboutanalytics #Dataanalyst

Excel is now 40!!!! Yes, that's correct! Microsoft Excel celebrated its 40th birthday on September 30, 2023. It's incredible to think how far this powerful tool has come since its initial release in 1985. Thank you for being with me😀🥰 Developed an Excel vulnerability dashboard using VBA macro to efficiently analyze server data and identify high-risk systems. Leveraged VBA macro to create a robust Excel dashboard that automates the process of collecting, analyzing, and visualizing server vulnerability data. This dashboard tool effectively highlights high-risk servers, enabling proactive security measures and informed decision-making. Still working on it.... #Excel #vbamacro #vulnerabilitymanagement #vmdashboard
