At AC Power, we believe in turning challenges into opportunities, and the Pine Avenue Landfill in Niagara, NY, is a shining example of this. Our new case study, published for BCONE - Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast, takes a closer look at how we developed this 13.5 MW-dc community solar project and outlines what you need to know when undertaking such an effort. Here’s what makes this project special: ✅ Powers over 2,300 homes with clean, affordable energy. ✅ Generates $500,000+ in local revenue for municipal and school budgets. ✅ Offsets 3,630 metric tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to planting 93,000 trees. This milestone project highlights the collaborative efforts between AC Power, Calibrant Energy, Montante Solar, and the Town of Niagara. Together, we transformed a site with a challenging past into a beacon of renewable energy and economic opportunity. The recent transformation of an EPA Superfund site in Woburn, MA, into a 4 MW solar array is an inspiring example of how renewable energy can revitalize even the most challenging locations. While this particular project was completed by Standard Solar and ECA Solar, it highlights the potential for solar development on sites facing issues like contamination. At Breiter Planet Properties, we specialize in working with property and landowners to develop customized solutions, including upfront leases, annual leases, and purchase options. Our goal is to help landowners monetize their land while addressing environmental challenges, similar to those seen in Woburn. We can create a more sustainable future by transforming underutilized spaces into sources of clean, renewable energy. Let's explore how we can help you unlock the potential of your property. Landfill solar utilizes former closed landfills (or brownfield sites) making productive use of land that might otherwise lie dormant while advancing the community's clean energy goals. The Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) estimates that there are over 10,000 closed and inactive landfills in the U.S. These landfills hold the potential to host more than 60 GW of solar capacity! ☀️⚡ Learn about some of our landfill solar projects and the associated benefits to the community ⬇️: https://hubs.ly/Q02ryJVh0 https://hubs.ly/Q02ryP4G0 https://hubs.ly/Q02ryQ0t0 #landfillsolar #reuse #cleanenergy

🌞 Considering going solar? ☀️ Let’s shed some light on the pros and cons of solar panels to help you make an informed decision! 🏡 Pros: 1️⃣ Renewable Energy Source - Solar panels harness the power of the sun, a clean and abundant energy source. 2️⃣ Energy Cost Savings - Reduce your electricity bills and potentially earn credits through net metering. 3️⃣ Environmentally Friendly - Reduce your carbon footprint and help combat climate change. 4️⃣ Energy Independence - Generate your own electricity and become less reliant on the grid. 5️⃣ Increase Property Value - Solar panels can increase the resale value of your home. Cons: 1️⃣ High Initial Cost - The upfront investment in solar panels can be significant, though there are financing options available. 2️⃣ Weather Dependency - Solar panels rely on sunlight, so energy production may vary depending on weather conditions. 3️⃣ Space Requirements - Adequate roof space or land area is needed for installation. 4️⃣ Maintenance - Regular cleaning and maintenance may be required to ensure optimal performance. 5️⃣ Installation Challenges - Installation complexities can arise based on roof type, shading, and other factors. Considering these factors, going solar can be a great choice for many homeowners! 🏠💡 If you have questions or need more advice on solar panels, feel free to reach out. There has been much discussion recently about the energy crisis in NZ. In this article on Architecture Now, we explore the crucial role architects can play in the energy transition through decentralized power generation and energy efficiency: https://lnkd.in/gEXU39-H The way we implement solar energy matters, and we have significant opportunities to decentralise and decarbonize systems. While large renewable energy projects are effective in reducing emissions, they miss the chance to bring energy generation closer to where it is used. Integrating power into our communities would enhance resilience, an important consideration in a country prone to multiple natural disasters. Even though solar panels have become significantly more affordable, not everyone might have access to them, and there can be a significant divide in the energy transition, particularly for renters. Implementing renewable energy solutions in public buildings, such as schools, would help ensure that each community has at least one point of basic access to energy in case of power outages. Thanks Andrew Burgess and Kyle Paala for collaborating on this! #solarpower #NZenergycrisis #resilientcommunities #climateadaptation #decentralisedenergy #solarenergy #energyefficiency

There are many innovations taking place in the #solar market, with one of the most exciting being floating photovoltaics. Also known as #floatingsolar, these are #solararrays, similar to what can be found on a rooftop or solar field, that are affixed to buoyant structures that float atop a water surface. These types of projects are typically located on calmer bodies of water, such as man-made lakes and reservoirs, and the racking systems are anchored in place to minimize drifting as well as any potential impacts from changing water levels. In land-constrained states such as #NewJersey, floating solar is an excellent way to increase renewable energy production without the need to develop additional land. Early studies have also found that floating solar may reduce evaporation and prevent harmful algal blooms from forming, which benefits the #environment and preserves the water supply. CEV is proud to own two floating solar arrays, including the Canoe Brook floating solar array – the largest in North America, which provides clean energy for New Jersey American Water’s water treatment plant. #sustainablefuture #cleanenergyfuture

Berkeley Partners Teams Up With Wunder To Power MA Industrial Facility With Solar Energy Berkeley Partners, a national real estate firm managing 11 million square feet of property, has partnered with Wunder, a leading provider of commercial energy solutions, to install a 335-kilowatt solar system at one of its industrial sites in eastern Massachusetts. The system, which went live in September 2024, is part of Berkeley Partners’ commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. Remarkably, the installation came at no upfront cost to the company. The solar panels are expected to produce 392,707 kilowatt hours of electricity in their first year, helping to reduce CO2 emissions by over 604,820 pounds.
