Do you ever wonder why some outfits just make you feel more confident and capable? It turns out there's some fascinating psychology behind how the clothes we wear shape how others perceive our competence levels. Research shows that more formal and tailored styles like suits, blazers, and structured dresses tend to convey higher levels of credibility, intelligence, and authoritativeness. The fit, fabrics, and styling cues associated with these types of outfits subconsciously signal traits like discipline, attention to detail, and put-togetherness. In contrast, extremely casual styles like t-shirts, hoodies, and joggers can sometimes undermine perceived competence, especially in professional settings. While comfortable, they may be seen as too relaxed or sloppy. That's not to say you can never rock casual chic in the office. It's all about strategic style choices and fit. A casual blazer or tailored chinos can still convey a clean, capable vibe. At the end of the day, clothes are a form of self-expression and persona crafting. An understanding of these subtle psychological influences, we can be more intentional about the professional persona we're projecting through our wardrobe choices. What's your take on the link between style and perceived competence? I'd love to hear your perspective! How can you get a capsule wardrobe that really works for you? First of all, ignore all the BS capsule wardrobe guides out there that tell us we ALL need these things to be stylish: - A trenchcoat - A pair of loafers - A white shirt - A little black dress - A pair of black trousers How many times have you read a guide like this? They have been around for years, unchanged! We are all so different with different lives, lifestyles, body shapes and personalities, how can we possibly need to wear the same things? You need a version of the above that is right for YOU. A capsule wardrobe that speaks to your style vibe and makes you feel great but always like yourself. The above items might appeal to you if you are a true classic dresser. I am not, so they don't appeal to me. What appeals to you - what is your style vibe? These guides can be distracting because we often need validation to ensure certain clothes work for us. Guides like this can make you feel like you 'should' have these items otherwise you are not stylish or are somehow doing things wrong. This is not the case. But, until you know what your style vibe is, you will always be wondering and maybe floundering with your wardrobe, ordering clothes that don't quite work, never really getting outfits right or feeling good. If you are fed up of floundering and wondering what your style truly is, I can bring this clarity to your wardrobe. I'm an expert at identifying wardrobe gaps and suggesting the missing pieces to create a capsule wardrobe that really works. Specific pieces that work for your individual style and vibe - not a 'one-size-fits-all' solution, churned out for mass appeal. Need some help with this? An average person wears only 20% of their wardrobe. I've always struggled with having too many clothes and never knowing what to wear! But then I discovered the concept of a capsule wardrobe, and it's been a game-changer for me. A capsule wardrobe is basically a collection of versatile pieces that you can mix and match to create different outfits. It's all about quality over quantity and choosing pieces that you love and feel confident in. Here are some tips for building your own capsule wardrobe: 1. Start with a blank slate. Empty out your closet and only keep the clothes that you truly love and wear regularly. 2. Identify your style. What kind of clothes do you feel most comfortable and confident in? Once you know your style, you can start building your wardrobe around it. 3. Choose a colour palette. Limiting your colour palette will make it easier to mix and match your clothes. 4. Invest in quality pieces. Instead of buying lots of cheap clothes, invest in a few well-made pieces that will last. 5. Accessorize. Accessories can help you to add personality to your outfits and make them more unique. Building a capsule wardrobe takes time and effort, but it's definitely worth it in the long run. You'll have a wardrobe that is organized, stylish, and easy to maintain. I'd love to hear your tips for building a capsule wardrobe! Jet-Set in Style with these 5 Wardrobe tips win! Whether you're jet-setting across the country or globe, frequent business travel can take a toll on your wardrobe game. But fear not, road warriors! Here are 5 tips to keep you looking sharp and stress-free: 1. Capsule Wardrobe FTW: Invest in a versatile capsule wardrobe with mix-and-match pieces. Think wrinkle-resistant fabrics, neutral colors, and layers that transition from boardroom to happy hour. 2. Roll, Don't Fold: Avoid wrinkles by rolling your clothes instead of folding them. Tightly rolled items take up less space and emerge crisp and crease-free. 3. Accessorize Like a Pro: A few well-chosen accessories can instantly elevate a basic outfit. Scarves, statement jewelry, and sharp blazers are your travel BFFs. 4. Pack Dual-Purpose Pieces: Seek out garments that pull double duty, like reversible dresses or convertible travel pants that transform from dressy to casual. 5. Laundry on the Road: Master the art of hotel sink laundry or locate a reliable dry cleaner near your destination. Fresh, clean clothes make all the difference! Traveling for work doesn't have to mean sacrificing style. With a little planning and these handy tips, you'll be the envy of the airport lounge in no time! What I recommend to clients who have a hard time getting dressed everyday 👇🏼 1. Declutter & Organize Your Closet 👚 Start by removing items you no longer wear or love. A well-organized closet makes it easier to see what you have and eliminates overwhelm. Keep only the pieces that fit well and make you feel confident. 2. Build a Capsule Wardrobe 🛒 Focus on versatile basics that can be mixed and matched. Invest in quality, timeless pieces that serve as the foundation of your wardrobe, such as a well-fitted blazer, classic jeans, and neutral tops. 3. Know Your Personal Style 🔗 Identify your style preferences (e.g., casual, professional, trendy, or minimalistic) and stick to them. This helps narrow down options when shopping or pulling together outfits, saving you time and stress. 4. Plan Outfits in Advance 🗓️ Lay out your outfits for the week or for specific occasions to avoid last-minute panic. This ensures you have looks ready to go and can tweak them based on weather or your mood. 5. Focus on Fit & Comfort 🤝🏼 Make sure your clothes fit well and are comfortable. A great fit instantly elevates your look, and feeling comfortable boosts your confidence.

Do you feel overwhelmed with your wardrobe? You're not alone! As a style coach, I understand the frustration of standing in front of a closet full of clothes and still feeling like you have nothing to wear. It's easy to get lost in a sea of options and lose sight of what truly suits you. Here's a gentle reminder: your style should reflect your personality and make you feel confident and comfortable. Instead of focusing on trends or what others are wearing, tune into your preferences and what makes you feel like the best version of yourself. Start by decluttering your wardrobe and removing items that no longer serve you or align with your current style. Then, identify key pieces that you love and feel great in. Build your outfits around these staples, mixing and matching to create fresh looks. Experiment with different styles, colours, and silhouettes to discover what resonates with you. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new! And remember, confidence is the best accessory you can wear. If you're still feeling stuck, consider seeking guidance from a style coach like myself. Together, we can explore your unique preferences and create a wardrobe that truly reflects your individuality. With the right guidance, you'll never have to feel overwhelmed by your outfit choices again #StyleInspiration #ConfidenceFromWithin #stylegenie
