It was buzzing at the Academy Shepparton centre as members of the Northern Eastern Victorian Regional (NEVR) School Improvement Workforce came together to focus on the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0 reforms, and the Department of Education's new literacy position. The NEVR is a great way of working with our regional schools and learning service providers to ensure learners have access to the same opportunities as other students. We look forward to having them back at the centre next year to collaborate and share ideas. Today I had the opportunity to collaborate with NCVER (National Centre for Vocational Education Research)! We discussed their latest research on 'Understanding quality teaching and learning to build the capacity of VET teachers.' The conversation enabled us to dive into topics like student connections, delivery methods, practices and we explored how these elements shape a student's learning journey. It's conversations and opportunities like these that remind me why I'm passionate about what I do. #Education #VocationalTraining #QualityTeaching"

As education systems around the world are evolving in response to technology, societal shifts, and changing student needs, the role of teachers is undergoing a profound transformation and continuous professional development for teachers has emerged as a crucial tool to empower educators, helping them stay up to date with what’s happening in the world because they are ultimately responsible for shaping the future, nurturing generations of learners, equipping them with critical thinking, creativity, adaptability, and to fulfill this role effectively they need access to ongoing professional development that aligns with the needs of a dynamic and modern classroom. All teachers are first humans, and CPDs also need to address the human challenges of stress, anxiety, and the ability to adapt to change alongside professional development - Smt. MLSS in a nutshell is your academic and behavioral educational experiences provided in three distinct layers supporting the whole child. It is where we educators are all hands-on-deck! Layer 1: For ALL of our students bringing into play CORE HQIM with differentiation (content, process, products, or the learning environment) and just-in-time supports. This layer is not to be skipped. It is the right of the student to receive a grade appropriate education. Layer 2: For some students needing intervention to support CORE in small groups. Not computer based, but teacher led. Monitored. Layer 3: Small groups for a few students in educational crisis. Finding gaps and assisting in closing them by drilling down to the actual needs of the student. Outside of CORE using supplemental HQIM. Pulling in all the resources and support to enhance mental velcro (Hirsch). Also monitored. Noteworthy: Students move in and out of layers as needed. ~df
