2024 Japan Tax Reforms – Individual Tax Highlights On March 28, 2024, the bill for Japan's 2024 tax reforms was passed into law, with most provisions taking effect on April 1, 2024. Although the ruling coalition parties (LDP and Komei) initiated discussions on the 2024 Japan tax reform proposals within their respective parties in November last year, it was a challenging time for the LDP to address topics, especially those related to increasing taxes (reducing deductions), amid a political fundraising scandal. Consequently, the final decision on certain tax reform items was postponed to next year's (2025) discussions on tax reforms. For insights into the recently enacted 2024 Japan tax reforms legislation, with a focus on key highlights pertaining to individual taxation, please refer to the slides provided below. #VialtoPartners #GlobalMobility #JapanTax #ExpatriateTax #TaxReforms #OnePointJPtax
