🎉 The thing I'm proud of... 🎉 I had a client who wanted to pass ACCA to add weight to his signature. He never planned to use IFRS in his life, so at first, SBR seemed like a disaster. Well, it is! It’s tough, even for accountants, because the exam isn’t really about debits and credits. It’s more like: "Hey, nobody knows how to account for this issue, but maybe you — who has just read the book — could help us out?" And yes, nobody knows exactly how to answer the questions, and it’s impossible to prepare for every scenario. But what IS possible is to score marks using the scenario presented, and that’s what I teach. Our goal is to learn to identify the key points in each scenario, spot the "elephants 🐘 in the room," and learn how to talk about them. ✨ And then, magic happened! ✨ Over the past three sessions, we’ve tackled questions that are just a paragraph of text—no numbers, just tricky issues—and he managed to write answers that would score 70%+ of the marks available (I'll tell you someday why aiming for 70% is better than aiming at 100% or 50% 😉). This person went from "I've heard something about debits and credits" to confidently discussing the specifics and challenges of IFRS. I'm incredibly proud of myself as a tutor, and even prouder of him for challenging himself and staying determined 💪. By the way, it feels like the perfect time to share my perspective on how to prepare for ACCA the most efficient and effective way. I’ll record a video for you where I’ll break down when and what to study to make your ACCA journey as fast as possible! Cheers! 🥂 #acca #accatips #accasbr #accatutor #accatuition

How to increase your chances of passing a professional accountancy exam from ‘possibly’ to ‘probably’? 💪 What’s the biggest piece of advice I would give accountancy trainees to improve their chances of passing their ACCA AAT CIMA ICAEW exams? 🤔 Attempt at least one full mock exam as part of your final preparation! 🤛 And ideally two or three mocks 🙌 Recent data from the March 2024 ACCA exam sitting shows yet again how much impact attempting mock exams makes to pass rates 🤯😀 And here’s the real secret: Stats show that it doesn’t actually matter whether you pass the mock exam or not The crucial thing is attempting them 💪 Follow the link below for an article laying out the reasons that attempting mock exams is so important, with a brilliant video discussion between my expert colleagues Sarah Wakefield and Ginny Bradwell 🙌 Here are my three tips for attempting those crucial mocks: 1. sit them under the same time pressure as the real thing 2. avoid referring to your notes or study texts until after you have finished each moc 3. don’t be tempted to look at the model answers until after you have completed your script Good luck! #acca #aat #icaew #cima #teamfi https://lnkd.in/eznJP6w6

I’m happy to share that I’ve completed my Accountancy Professional Qualification at ACCA! It is exactly 9 years since I registered as an ACCA student. 13 papers completed with all 1st time passes while doing self-study. Special thanks to Andrew Mower & Ndifreke James for the invaluable guidance in AFM and Ben Wilson for making AAA fun, practical and approachable during the ACCA StudyHub+ courses. Can't forget to thank Tom Clendon for the mock exam debrief videos that clarified important SBR concepts. Lastly, I want to thank PKF in Eastern Africa and PKF Capital Markets (Seychelles) Limited for their priceless support during my studies. To everyone who is still doing their ACCA papers, here are a few tips: 1. You will never feel ready to sit for any exam. However, booking an exam will increase your motivation and commitment towards your studies. 2. Know your strengths and limits. If you can sit for two or three exams at a go, do it. People can advise you but don't let them decide for you. Only ensure that you are very intentional and disciplined especially if you are a self-study student. 3. Don't give up. It is okay to take a break due to emerging responsibilities (work, family etc). But, giving up is not an option. Remember why you started. The goal is to become an internationally certified professional accountant. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, "If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the highest return.”

Assist us in extending a hearty congratulations to Leworth Adams on attaining the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA) certification! Leworth is a Senior Associate (and rockstar) in our Assurance Team. If you’re still pursuing your ACCA exams, Leworth has the following recommendations: 1. Dedicate time and effort to know the material and be prepared for any scenario you might face in the exam. 2. Practice as much as you can and try doing so under examination conditions, so you can stick to the time requirement for each section of the paper and earn as many marks as possible. 3. Evaluate your progress and identify the areas you need to work on leading up to the examination. 4. If you are attempting to do two exams at one time, find two that are related so it cuts down on the volume of material, so you can focus your practice on the exam techniques. 5. Have self-belief that you can do it. #PwCproud

📚 How do we plan the order of ACCA exams? 📝 Long story short: we map them based on the level of skill required (e.g., getting used to structuring NPV questions or handling consolidations) and the knowledge needed (e.g., knowing how to use CVP formulas). ✅ One key strategy: don't take two knowledge-intensive exams in the same session. The perception of which exams are more skill- or knowledge-based can vary from person to person, depending on their work experience. For example, if you're an auditor, you might already know the procedures for revenue or the key assertions. For you, it’s more about learning what the examiner expects to see, which makes it skill-based. But if you’re not familiar with these topics, it’s more about building knowledge—so I wouldn’t recommend taking it alongside another knowledge-heavy exam. 📊 When it comes to the strategic level papers, I’m a big fan of APM. It’s primarily skills-based, and even though it has one of the lowest pass rates, it’s quite straightforward to teach someone how to pass it within 10-14 sessions 🎯. In my opinion, APM is the perfect exam to take before SBR, which is the most knowledge-intensive of the strategic papers. Planning your ACCA exams strategically can make all the difference between a smooth journey and an overwhelming one. 🚀 #ACCA #ACCAExamStrategy #ACCAExamPlanning #Accounting #Finance #APM #SBR #AccaTutor #SBRTutor #APMTutor
