The revised Title IX regulations by the U.S. Department of Education become effective on August 1, 2024. In “A Former Regulator’s Read of the 2024 Title IX Regulations,” Attorney Angela L. Velez gave her analysis of the new regulations for The Legal Intelligencer. Angela highlighted how the 2024 regulations will affect the work of practitioners, such as by clarifying and streamlining the evidence rules applicable to Title IX grievance procedures. As with the 2020 regulations, we will likely not find out if particular provisions will endure until they become effective on August 1, 2024, recipients implement them, and the results of implementation are challenged in the courts. Making LLMs that don't lie? New paper suggests that larger LLMs have a sense of truthfulness as a feature. That this feature can be enhances and monitored and appear to exist regardless of the training data. This is a reminder that the new Title IX regulations issued by the United States Department of Education are set to go into effect this Thursday, August 1, 2024. The new Title IX regulations will impose a number of new notice, training, record-keeping, and compliance obligations on schools, colleges and other entitles subject to Title IX. It is highly important to abide by these new regulations because the USDOE will be enforcing the new rules against schools/colleges (except those covered by an injunction). To help your school navigate these new requirements, Miller Johnson created on-demand Title IX training as well as a variety of template documents and other resources. It is imperative that you obtain these on-demand trainings and templates in order to be compliant with the new law as of Thursday. Nottingham County Court was the setting today. Despite the grey clouds and pouring rain outside the courthouse, there was a sense of optimism in Chambers 11 as a judgment was secured in favor of my commercial client. The deputy district judge was notably understanding and attentive to the facts & submissions presented. Take away points from todays learning experience: 1. Keep calculations and figures sought at your fingertips. 2. Keep a steady pace when speaking. 3. If you don’t understand a question from the judge, ask them to rephrase it. On to the next case…
