My superhero & loving father passed away peacefully on july 1 ,2024 at the age of 94 years .As I celebrate & reflect back on his life to draw inspiration and attempt to continue his legacy the following points come to mind : 1.Staying relevant and updated at all times not only through formal education but also gaining knowledge through continuous reading ,sharing of experience ,use of technology & gadgets & applications etc 2.Practise the principles of spiritual & religious beliefs by understanding the same and not in a ritualistic way. 3.Communication is the key with all age groups and stakeholders to bring in clarity & sharing knowledge,wisdom & experience 4.Overcoming challenges & pain with courage & conviction ( never say die attitude)to survive and thrive without passing the pressure to your loved ones 5.Keeping the family together by acting like a Glue and supporting the same with love,guidance care,perseverance ,finances,patience etc 6.Sharing of wealth with the needy and for social causes by giving back to the society : 7. Building strong and long term relationship & networking for growth & development. Develop the nature of being humble & forgiving. : 8. Be a Good listener & having a point of view based on critical thinking which is broad minded & not rigid 9.Acceptance of the Hukam of the almighty 10 Developing interest or hobby in areas other than the main occupation 11lead a purpose & mission driven life with a passion to achieve the same. Here's what I don't like about hustle culture (as someone who enjoys working almost every weekend and likes Alex Hormozi). Hustle culture's messaging is so one-dimensional around working. A more universal message would be: "Discover and be true to your values and remove things from your life that don't align with them... ...and don't waste this infinitely small moment in time given to you to experience the wonder of being alive in an exquisite universe" Why don't people do this already? Because of fear, or because they have let someone else's values substitute for their own, or because they simply haven't taken the initiative to discover what matters to them. The person who works 80+ hours a week may unknowingly be living by someone else's values, have terrible health, have broken relationships, and can't truly enjoy the awesome cosmic light show of existence. On the other hand, The mother or father who is disciplined around not working on the weekends to spend quality time with their children, The monk who meditates for 8 hours a day, The free spirit who is an adventure guide in the glorious summers in Alaska and a ski instructor in vibey ski towns in the winter, The couple that loves to take their camping trailer out to remote wilderness on the weekends, The person who can't wait to spend Saturday morning in their routine of coffee and reading a good book, and yes, the entrepreneur with a vision who relishes the quiet weekends where he can work without distractions... I find everyone who is true to themselves inspiring. Saying no to how others believe you should be living your life is impressive and I salute you. So, cheers to everyone on this Sunday who doesn't live by anyone else's rules, whatever form that takes.
