Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of mediating a session during the workshop "Making Our Way into Authentic Sustainability Work" organized by cirka cph at Demokrati Garage. I am particularly thankful for the openness and welcoming spirit of the cirka cph team. The event was a fantastic opportunity to create a relaxed environment where professionals could openly discuss their experiences in the sustainability landscape, find inspiration, and build connections. The workshop featured several parallel sessions: 🌿 Exploring Emotions: This session delved into the emotional aspects of the environmental crisis, providing space to release, express, and cope with the emotional strain. 🌿 Company Organization & Networking: Focused on the need for a shift in sustainability practices within organizations. 🌿 Interactions with Nature: In the session I moderated, we explored our interactions with nature in urban settings, identifying non-human presence, and drawing inspiration from how these beings navigate and adapt to urban spaces. We asked: Who are they? How do they operate? And what can we learn from them? Mediating this workshop was an exciting challenge, and I’m proud to say it was a success. I walked away with new experiences, connections, and a deeper curiosity about the role of perspective and collaboration in sustainability work.

I’m on a personal mission. To educate as many people as possible about Net Zero, sustainability and the role they play. After all, Net Zero is a team sport. Like most people, I learn by reading, listening to podcasts and subscribing to tonnes of newsletters. But my best learning is always from conservations: Asking questions, listening to their answers and listening to what question they ask me. Thanks to my job, I have hundreds of conversations a month about sustainability, but not everyone has this opportunity. Which is why I thought I’d share 3 upcoming events in Australia which offer opportunities to connect with and learn from others in the sustainability world. These aren't any old events: They're run by people I deeply admire and designed for anyone interested in sustainability. As the year draws to a close, we're reflecting on the acceleration we've experienced this year at Future Planet. Wrapping up from Planetiers World Gathering 🌍. Huge congratulations to my friend Sérgio Ribeiro for creating such a powerful event, highlighting the urgent need for all of us to wake up to the environmental impact of our actions. One refreshing takeaway from this year’s event was the emphasis on a crucial and often missing element in sustainability discussions: profit. Sustainability doesn’t have to mean sacrifice; it can mean smarter, more profitable business. If we align the goals of profitability and sustainability, we stand a real chance of building a thriving world economy without destroying the planet. We’re already seeing green initiatives pay off and boost competitive advantage. Imagine the impact if this mindset becomes the norm, not the exception. #Sustainability #GreenEconomy
