A major global campaign is set to highlight the wonders of the Arab world, including ancient marvels like Saudi Arabia's AlUla. Led by the New7Wonders Foundation, known for its 2007 campaign that named iconic landmarks like the Taj Mahal and Petra as world wonders, this new initiative will celebrate the region's rich cultural heritage. Modern sites like the Burj Khalifa and the Museum of Islamic Art will be showcased alongside ancient wonders such as AlUla, the Old City of Sanaa, and the Alhambra Palace. Bernard Weber, the founder of New7Wonders, emphasizes that this campaign will bring overdue global recognition to the achievements of Arab civilizations. By connecting modern architectural feats with ancient landmarks like AlUla, the initiative aims to boost tourism, foster cultural pride, and promote the preservation of these historical sites. With significant engagement expected through social media, the Seven Arabian Wonders campaign could surpass previous milestones, generating billions in tourism and branding for the host nations. Saudi Arabia is home to some of the world’s most significant Islamic art and cultural heritage, and the Kingdom is playing an increasingly prominent role in preserving and promoting this rich legacy. The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran is one of the leading institutions dedicated to showcasing Islamic art, history, and culture. Ithra features exhibitions on Islamic architecture, calligraphy, and textiles, as well as contemporary art inspired by Islamic traditions. The center also hosts international conferences and workshops that bring together scholars, artists, and cultural leaders from around the world. As a crossroads of ancient civilisations, #AlUla's legacy of knowledge-sharing is at the heart of the strategic partnership between UNESCO , The Royal Commission for AlUla, and the Kingdoms Institute. Closely linked with the #MemoryoftheWorld Programme, this important partnership is helping to drive advancements in the preservation and promotion of documentary heritage to safeguard our shared human heritage and culture for the people of AlUla and beyond. To support this vision, we are inviting experts from around the world to discuss new ways to expand sustainable development and protect heritage through an open call for abstracts focused on culture and development in Saudi Arabia and the wider Arab region. Global scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders are invited to submit abstracts that discuss the pivotal role documentary heritage plays in safeguarding cultural identities, promoting historical awareness, and fostering intercultural dialogue and development. The New York Times | Saudi Arabia has already transformed one of its premier destinations — Al-Ula, with its UNESCO-listed Nabatean tombs — from a neglected collection of archaeological sites into a lavish retreat with a bevy of activities on offer, including guided tours, wellness festivals and design exhibitions... Still more projects include the development of Diriyah, the birthplace of the first Saudi state; the preservation and development of the coastal city of Jeddah; an offshore theme park called the Rig; and Neom, the futuristic city that has garnered the lion’s share of attention. At-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was the birthplace of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is now the centerpiece of the $63 billion Diriyah project, a new center of culture in Riyadh. All told, the country is hoping to draw 70 million international tourists per year by 2030, with tourism contributing 10 percent of its gross domestic product. (In 2023, the country logged 27 million international tourists, according to government figures, with tourism contributing about 4 percent of G.D.P.) Day 13 of the Egypt Sacred Soul Journey offered us an incredible opportunity to explore the Old Cairo Museum and the Grand Egyptian Museum, immersing ourselves in the ancient and modern expressions of Egypt’s timeless legacy. It was more than a day of admiring artifacts; it was a powerful reflection on the journey of spiritual development and its profound correlation with business success. Standing within the walls of the Old Cairo Museum, surrounded by centuries-old treasures, I felt the deep-rooted strength of enduring wisdom. The Grand Egyptian Museum, with its striking modernity, showcased the boldness of stepping into new frontiers. Together, these spaces remind us that true success—whether in life or business—requires a balance of honoring our past while fearlessly evolving toward the future. In our work, much like in spiritual growth, there is a delicate dance between grounding in foundational wisdom and allowing room for innovation. Just as the ancient artifacts provide insight and inspiration, so do the lessons and insights gained over years of business and personal growth. Yet, just as Egypt builds new spaces for its treasures, we too must create new structures for our talents, letting go of limiting beliefs to build something visionary. Business success flourishes when we approach it as a spiritual journey. It’s about anchoring in purpose, being rooted in the wisdom that brought us here, and courageously expanding into unknown possibilities. Yesterday’s journey through the old and new was a reminder that when we balance these energies, we set the stage for sustainable growth—authentic, aligned, and truly abundant. #EgyptSacredSoulJourney #BusinessAndSpirit #AncientWisdomModernSuccess #SpiritualGrowthCoach #LeadershipJourney
