Be Loud. Be Disabled. Be Squeaky. Based on Steven Verdile’s popular web publication The Squeaky Wheel, The Squeaky Wheel: Canada is an eight-episode satirical, half-hour news format which pokes fun at the ableist society people with disabilities face every day. The Squeaky Wheel: Canada debuts Monday, June 24, at 9 p.m. Eastern on AMI-tv and AMI+!
https://lnkd.in/eQHkm3Jx The trailer for The Squeaky Wheel: Canada is out! From day one of The Squeaky Wheel, we believed comedy makes difficult topics more relatable and accessible, and that by using humor, disabled people are empowered to be bold and honest without having to be victims. Many disabled people don’t dream of being inspirational tragedies or motivational speakers — they just want to be clowns! What is so unique about this show is that it was not made *about* disabled people, it was made *by* disabled people. From the writers room to behind-the-camera roles to our phenomenally talented cast, this show was authentic to the community, and that authenticity is so clearly evident in the final product. I am so excited for folks to see it, and incredibly proud of the talented writers, cast, crew, producers and everyone else who came together to make this show happen.
