HONORARY LIFE MEMBER?: What does an Honorary Life Member recognition signify? In levity, it is a stark reminder of mortality bestowed on one who has under achieved, over achieved or stayed too long a member in an organization while still alive waiting for the inevitable. In starker terms, one is in the pre-departure stage of life. Haha! Levity aside, it is indeed an “honorary” award, an “honor” to be cited by my professional organization of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) for my 5-decade long fruitful service in the four sectors of the profession; commerce/industry, public practice, education/academe, & government. I have been Senior National Director, Vice President for Operations, Vice President for Education, MMR Geographical Area Chair, SMMC Chapter President, & sat in various national, regional & chapter committees. I have been a regular resource person/speaker on various topics offered in training/seminars. I was also cited as one of the outstanding chapter presidents, as Outstanding CPA in Professional Development & Outstanding CPA in Education during national Awards. Have I retired? No, I am still engaged as President/CEO of a large company, Dean of the College of Accountancy, Practicing Management Consultant, & Member of the BIR Regions 8A & 8B Accreditation Board, for good measure to complete my active roles in the 4 sectors of practice. I guess unembarrassingly, I really have earned enough spurs to be considered for HLM! I hear my friends, colleagues & former students chorus: YOU HAVE INDEED ARRIVED! Note: in this attached gallery, I should be the only septuagenarian awardee! Another feat! Don’t you think so? By the way, this citation will be given during the annual national convention on November 21-23 in Davao City! I hope I won’t be cited as persona non grata! Haha!
