This topic is near and dear to my heart, and it was the focus of my doctoral research. Building a positive culture is the key to recruiting and retaining talent, but these are not abstract ideas. Four emergent themes from my research revealed the effectiveness of coaching and mentoring, strategic client management, workplace flexibility, and aligning academic representation with professional realities. Culture will look different in every firm, but culture does not happen without work. Making culture work starts with making sure your top leaders agree to your core values and live them every day.

There is a shortage of talent. Been looking for over two years. Had one strong candidate but lost to a much larger firm for higher pay and signing bonus. We gave a very good employment package. The highest we ever did.

Firms don’t want to hire an entry level graduate. I have the 150 hours to sit for the exam. I’ve been looking for the past 5 years and even moved for better opportunity with no avail.
