For a project manager, simplicity is often key to success When I first started as a PM, I thought complexity was a sign of expertise. The more detailed the plan, the more impressive it seemed. But I've learned that complexity can slow progress. It's actually simplicity that drives success. Here's how: ✅ It simplifies communication Technical, complex jargon sounds smart. But clarity and understanding win every time. Focus on delivering updates and action items that everyone can understand and take forward. ✅ It makes work manageable Big deliverables feel overwhelming. Breaking them into smaller, actionable tasks creates focus and momentum. Progress doesn't happen all at once, it happens step-by-step. ✅ It helps you focus on what truly matters Every project has noise. Requests, distractions, changes, risks, "nice-to-haves." Zero in on the goals that will drive success to keep teams aligned and productive. Simplicity doesn't mean cutting corners, it means clearing the path. As PMs, it's our job to make the complicated clear, to turn uncertainty into action, and to keep the team moving forward confidently. Because when the path is simple, the end goal feels achievable. PS: how do you promote simplicity to drive project outcomes? 🤙

As PMs, there will always be projects that we face with complex variables. One superpower that the author highlighted is the art of simplifying #communication . It can be tempting to relay your messaging back to your project team in a technical matter to make you sound smart. But honestly, it is unnecessary! Do not assume all your stakeholders has a grasp of what the technical verbiage means to their respective team/department. What would I do? ✅ Ask clarifying insightful questions in hopes that whatever response is delivered comes off simple vs when it was originally spoken or presented ✅ Recap in your meeting minutes/notes the updates and action items that highlights the deliverable(s) that came off complex, but broken down in its simplest form, without losing its integrity. <—— This one is an Art #projectmanagement #productmanagement #collaboration #opentowork
