Multitasking and context switching kills productivity! The brain takes up to 20 minutes to settle back in and focus on a new task. That's a lot of valuable time wasted throughout the day if you're constantly bouncing between different projects. Using Playbook, teams can quit multitasking and embrace monotasking by making daily multitasking highly visible. With this visibility, we can help resources know what priorities to focus on and what tasks to defer. We can take actions to increase the availability of the most critical resources, such as removing them from a meeting to focus on their critical tasks. Lastly, we make sure there is room for stuff that happens (variability), so that stuff doesn’t kill our project schedules.

Be sure not to multitask when you read this post! Here's one additional thought about multitasking for you to consider. If you're working on two tasks in parallel and one is on the critical path, every minute you spend working on the non-critical path task delays the completion of the critical path task which delays the project. Talk about low hanging fruit!
