When the media plays such a pivotal role in how the public and the policy makers react to situations it’s vital that they report on matters responsibly. Language matters- call these “young people” what they are CHILDREN. Listen to communities, invest in communities and family support services. Invest in early intervention. Prevention is better than detention. When kids are strong in their identity they thrive and they influence those around them creating a ripple effect.
Journalists have a critical role to play in public discussion around child justice and community safety. The ‘tough on crime’ narrative is harmful to children and fuels fear of young people in the community. The media have a responsibility to report the truth about child justice – that government agencies need to help children way earlier. Prioritising child wellbeing and safety would help keep children away from the criminal justice system and make the community safer Read the full report and the recommendations - Help way earlier!’ How Australia can transform child justice to improve safety and wellbeing - https://loom.ly/_A_P0PU #AusHumanRights

Public safety is more than just law enforcement—it’s about ensuring that every person in a community feels safe and secure. It’s a shared responsibility between police, citizens, and local organizations to create environments where people can thrive without fear. 💡 How can we all contribute to public safety? • Police: Protect and serve by building trust, engaging with the community, and responding to emergencies with professionalism and care. • Citizens: Stay aware of your surroundings, report suspicious activities, and get involved in neighborhood watch programs to promote a culture of safety. • Everyone: Foster open communication, show respect, and work together to address issues like crime prevention, mental health awareness, and support for vulnerable individuals. Public safety is a community effort, and by working together, we can build stronger, safer neighborhoods for all. 🌟 #PublicSafety #CommunityFirst #SaferTogether #ProtectAndServe #StrongerCommunities #SafetyForAll

Today is National Missing Children’s Day. This day serves as a reminder that the continued efforts by our government and law enforcement agencies in protecting these children, continues to grow — daily. A reminder that our agencies are committed to ensuring safety and fair investigations. Take this time as a reminder of the children who have suffered and continue to suffer. The families who got answers and are still awaiting answers. The parents who put in just as much time and effort in finding their children as the police. The families that did not get the help they needed and deserved. The children who were saved but have never healed from the trauma. Please take the time to read and look over the below websites. https://lnkd.in/eXzVjNbX https://lnkd.in/eNpk8PQf If you or anyone you know has information please consider contacting the FBI ( https://lnkd.in/eJif5wkF ), local law enforcement agencies in your area, or submit a TIP at tips.fbi.gov Our children across the world deserve to feel protected. Be that protection.

It’s not about states working together, it’s more about communities working together to support one another. Youth crime is not the only issue, it is a societal one. If we work together to bring about more economic equality and less social injustice, we could make a really good dint in the problem. If we don’t, it will just keep growing. So, what do want for our children’s future Australia?… #socialimpact #socialjustice #prisonreform #youthjustice #jailingisfailing

The Tori Lynn Andreozzi Foundation hosts a series of community forums in which victims, highway safety professionals, legislators, prevention specialists, prosecutors, members of law enforcement, and the public discuss ways to make the roadways in Rhode Island safer by eliminating impaired driving. Rhode Island is a small state with a big problem, having a higher percentage of death and serious injuries than the national average. Yet, these crashes are 100% preventable. The Community Conversation was born out of the anger and grief residents felt following two high profile crashes which resulted in the deaths of young adults in neighboring communities. While the pain and need “to do something” was evident, so too was the lack of understanding regarding the magnitude of the problem, the process and the steps that could be taken to address this issue. It is our hope that through awareness, education, and common-sense solutions we can work together to eliminate the carnage on our roads once and for all. Have the Conversation. You’ll be glad you did. #eliminateimpaireddriving #highwaysafety #havetheconversation
