In an ideal ICU, silence would be a powerful healer, providing patients the peace they need to recover, caregivers the space to reflect and support, and healthcare professionals the focus to deliver precise, compassionate care. Silence would ease anxiety, promote restful sleep, and reduce the risk of delirium, creating a calm environment where healing thrives. However, the reality of many ICUs today tells a different story—constant noise from alarms, equipment, and conversations disrupts this serenity. This noise not only delays recovery but also adds to the emotional strain on patients and their loved ones. We must strive to close this gap, creating ICUs that reflect the true essence of healing: quiet, calm, and care. #dräger
Working towards a Silent ICU: Reducing noise, enhancing care together with our partners B. Braun Group and Ascom. Our experts at #LIVES2024 are thrilled to welcome you and discuss the journey to a #SilentICU. Reducing noise exposure and decreasing stress for both staff and patients are vital components of our vision for the #FutureICU. Join us in this journey towards a quieter, more efficient ICU. #ESICM

Ex-ovent marks the spot! Are you travelling to ExCel London for the Anaesthesia & Critical Care conference this week? #ACC24 😎 If so, this map might help you to find the forgotten treasure that is Negative Pressure Ventilation (#NPV). Although, it might be easier to simply follow the signs to 'Stand G63' where you will be able to meet with our partners 42 Technology and Portsmouth Aviation Limited; please come along for a chat about the future of #medical technology and innovation, and to see the exovent NPV system in action. Also, ‘Hear from the Experts’ 📣 on Wednesday 2 October 12.15 in Clinical Theatre D: https://lnkd.in/egQhXayq #COVID, #COPD #ARDS #Pneumonia #NHS #Healthcare #Intensivecare #ICU #Criticalcare #Anaesthesia #Nursing #Innovation #Technology #Ventilation #Gamechanger #Greatideas #Historyinthemaking #breathfreely #Treasure

Automation in Ventilation: Fewer Adjustments, but More Alarms—At What Cost? Michela Botta et al. compared automated ventilation using INTELLiVENT-ASV with conventional pressure-controlled or pressure support ventilation in critically ill patients undergoing invasive ventilation. The study found no differences in the quality of oxygenation between the two modes. Automated ventilation required fewer manual interventions but led to more ventilator alarms. Further research is needed to assess the impact of automated ventilation on ICU nursing staff workload. Read the full report in J Clin Med here: https://lnkd.in/daYpgdsk. This work was part of INTELLiPOWER, a substudy of a randomized crossover clinical trial conducted by PROVE Network (https://lnkd.in/dWinRK4z). #AmsterdamUMC #ReinierDeGraaf #PROVENetwork #PROVE #INTELLiPOWER #ICU #InvasiveVentilation #Ventilation #Automation #ClosedLoop #Oxygenation #Alarms #Alarmmanagement #Workload
