After nearly 19 years, this is my last week at Abt Global. My oldest daughter, who was 4 months old when I started, is now a College Sophomore and a Public Leadership Scholar, to boot! (Where did that come from?) Over these years I have had the privilege to work with many astoundingly brilliant colleagues and contributed to great internal and external projects. Here's a bit of a summing up: The work I am most proud of included creating the first generation web-based portal for collecting national data on homelessness ("Homelessness Data Exchange") and designing a system for homeless providers to quickly lookup clients' Veteran status through a VA system. I also got to be the original IT Director for the SSA's Benefit Offset National Demonstration (BOND), which tested whether changes in benefit formulas would help more SSDI beneficiaries return to work, and was one of the largest randomized control trials ever conducted. More recently, during the pandemic, I helped our team deliver near real-time information to CDC and the White House on COVID infections and vaccine effectiveness. This data translated directly into public health guidance, media reports, and published papers in distinguished journals. Internally, I have been proud to grow our internal technology consulting group, create a business intelligence platform, and lead the development of our Data Collection and Analytic Computing Environment ("DC-ACE"), which centralized all of our people, data, and tools in a single, secure and compliant AWS platform. As a spinoff of that effort, I also helped develop our very own "SQUAD," i.e., "Standards for Quality in Analytics and Data." A few years back, I created a new subscription service for the "Abt Monitoring and Evaluation Ecosystem" (AMEE) for our international development projects. Finally, in the last few years I have developed our "Digital Equity" program. This Wednesday (9/4), as a last internal presentation, I will be presenting on this topic in one of our "Digital Cafes" that I have been organizing. This list inflates my ego, but I fully realize that there is nothing on this list that I did alone. All of these activities were huge efforts with outstanding teams. And the reason I was able to stay for so long was due to the many different roles and opportunities that Abt has afforded me. I am grateful to this amazing company for all of them. I do have one regret, which is that I never did any travel to any of our International sites. But that was my fault for not pursuing such opportunities. I have a new job and will share more in the near future on my next role, but I wanted to dedicate this post to reflecting backward. Meanwhile, I will have three weeks off. The first week of which I will spend "checked out" in the Grand Canyon. And I feel like I deserve it!

FYP: From Spark to Stage Looking back at our Final Year Project (FYP), it's more than just a project—it's a journey filled with mentorship, teamwork, and game-changing innovation. Our mentor, Danish Jamil,our guide through the project. His support and smart advice not only boosted our tech skills but also shaped us as problem-solvers and leaders. Teaming up with collaborative mates Syed Mohammad Haider Rizvi,MUHAMMAD BILAL AHMED and Muhammad Wahaj Khan brought a mix of skills and ideas to the table. Together, we turned challenges into victories, shared high-fives for breakthroughs, and created something that truly makes a difference. The teamwork vibes turned hurdles into stepping stones. Bagging the top spot at the Project Exhibition wasn't just a win; it was a nod to our shared commitment to shake up how we diagnose lung cancer. The journey taught us to bounce back, work together, and showed us the magic of tech in healthcare. Beyond academia, the experiences gained from this FYP are the bedrock of our future endeavors. Grateful for the mentorship, teamwork, and the invaluable experience that will resonate in our professional journey.
