I have consulted many candidates from bigger consulting firms and tech companies throughout my career. Interestingly, many choose to continue their careers at smaller firms or startups. While the reasons vary, a recurring theme I heard from most people I interviewed was that they were tired of being one of many in a big company and wanted to have a greater impact on the business through their individual efforts (and be rewarded for it). For them, working at a smaller company was the right answer. Of course, this is not to say that bigger companies don't have their perks and career benefits.
